Another Question about Freshman Orientation

I am attending Session 103, and I was wondering, would it be possible to leave at about 5 pm on the last day [24th]? I see that there's something called the Bruin Farewell, and then I think the end of campus tours. Is that necessary to go to?

There's a Tegan & Sara in-store concert at 6 pm that I really wanted to go to and I'm going to be in LA anyways, so it seemed like a perfect opportunity...

No events are mandatory, even enrollment. But that it up fo you to decide. You can leave anytime, just make sure you check out.

It is, it really depends on how fast your oc moves. It's basically you start a long tour after lunch and when the tour ends you fill out a survey and it's done. They do mention if you have to leave before that it's okay and not to worry about it. I think my tour finished like 10 after 5.

bruin farewell is just people signing posters for your OC and get your planner and poster as gifts, I don't suggest you go on tour if you want to leave early since groups like mine didn't finish until 5:30 or so and still had to pack and check out, also the elevator waiting time is really really long since everyone is leaving and trying to get in the elevator... fun fact: it is faster to go stairs from 8th floor down to 1st floor than using elevator during "rush hours" tested twice personally lol

the tour is a fun tradition though. i was originally planning to leave early. but i stayed and didn't regret it at all.

don't miss the caberet or carpe nocturn either!

If you want to walk around campus for 4-5 hours learning all kinds of stories about the different unique parts of UCLA then go on the tour. If that doesn't sound fun to you and you need to leave at 5 I wouldn't suggest the tour... or you could try to leave it early. My tour ended around 5:30 and then I had to get up to the room to pack real quick and then leave, so it took until around 5:45 or 6:00 by the time I was ready to leave campus.

sofakingwangsta, what are those?

caberet is like entertainment show with dances, songs and jokes by the OCs... Carpe Noctrum is scavenger hunt during midnight

Okay, thanks guys. I think i'll ask if I can duck out of the tour early, or else I'll skip.

Anyone know if the parents go with you on the tour? or do they do something separate?

I think parents has their own tour

Yeah parents are separate.

OP,
i just got back from orientation. on the last day we were done at around 5with the campus tour. leaving then will be fine.

yeahh....i have a flight that night at 8:20 back home to Wash Dc ...eh, heh....they better let me go :)

Don't bother with Carpe Noctum. Waste of time. So is the cabaret, campus tour, etc.

I liked watching those random presentations though cause you can nap.

thats only if you hate people

don't listen to him, carpe noctum might be really tiring but it is fun running around campus with your friends, of course it is a waste of time when you don't have any... caberet is very funny show, very entertaining unless you don't have any humor and don't want to have fun... campus tour is basically a regular tour with some special interest points and more detailed...

No, carpe noctum is a waste of time. If you count people that you met just a couple of hours ago "friends," I guess you just have a very loose definition.

Honestly, it is fun for the first 15 minutes, but by the 3rd hour of wandering around, you just want to sleep. Don't join unless you are mentally prepared for running around for 3 hours cause you can't quit in the middle or else your team of 10 loses.

wow you guys must be slow, we finished in like an hour and a little bit more...

maybe they had to find botany.

i'm still not sure where that is
