yup! I'm in California, and I got the letter last night :)

So does this mean you are guaranteed admission?

Any Asian male applicants received a likely letter? Just curious. Engineering seems to issue liklies to Asian female applicants.

no likely letter yet.

Any asian CAS received a likely yet?

Roughly how many percent of accepted students receive likely letters? It seems like a lot of people on CC have receive them, and I'm just curious about the stats.

In my educated guess, about 3-5%

Is it not likely tat ALL of the accepted students get the likely letter before the official notification date? If they send out so many likely letters, why not to all accepted ones? That way they will maximize their intended effects.

Just give the likely letters to all. So those who have not received the LL will not bother anymore.

It's just not fun being an asian applicant for college admission. You just have to be 150% better for the equal opportunity. Where are the asian politicians to legislate for a more level ground for everyone?? Why should asians perform better and still get ....?

My daughter received an engineering likely letter yesterday. She's caucasian, and lives in Maryland. She is not being offered any type of scholarship, so maybe they did send likely letters to everybody, as Toughyear suggests?

no, your daughter received one because she is a woman in a typically female-underrepresented college

~

Haha, my friend and I were talking about this the other day. Asians (especially middle-classed ones) are at a huge disadvantage when it comes to college admission. My white friends think they're still worse off, but I'm not so sure. I joked to some Indian friends that they should've checked off that they were partly Native American...

no likely letter. i applied engineering. i can feel a denial. oh well.

Any asian internationals around New England getting one?

I like your sense of humor. I am fifty something parent of a college bound S. My S is very relaxed (at least externally) but I am getting worried -- if he may end up in his safety school His entire HS life was no different from any typical middle class americans (except of course a little bit more yelling from me than any white parents) -- in his ECs, volunteer works, etc., but when it came to the college application, it seems to be whole different game. I am ready if he blames his race on me.

" I am ready if he blames his race on me. "

this quote is so sad

I hope they didn't send out a bunch of likely letters....then I can still tell myself that I'm in the 95% admitted but no letter category.
Yeah, it's no fun being asian in this year's admissions. Wouldn't life be wonderful if asians qualify as urm?

I am chinese male middle class got letter today include scholarship finalist status notification.

I must be one of the lucky ones

omgponies -- CAS or CoE?

any black male received anything for engineering physics
