If I listed my 2nd concentration as biophysics (1st is cognitive neuroscience), do I need to write the hard-science essay for chemistry/computer science/geology/physics applicants?

Thanks!

I don’t believe you have to. I’m pretty sure it’s your primary concentration focus that matters, more so than your secondary. And I don’t really know if they want to see an essay on what you’re sort of passionate about, rather than what you’re REALLY passionate about. I think Brown uses those essays as gauges to see how likely it is that the applicant will stay in a hard science, and how dedicated to that science they’d be.

But if someone actually had this situation, they’d know better than I (or someone who’s seen the supplement this year).

It’s probably up to you. If you feel passionate enough about biophysics to write good essays about it, then write them. But I don’t think you’re expected/required to do it.

Thanks for the help! :D
