Anthropology at JHU

I was wondering if we have any Johns Hopkins anthropology majors on here. I have been accepted as junior transfer from a community college as an anthropology major. I see on the anthropology department's website that JHU's is a socio-cultural anthropology program. Are there still classes in physical/biological anthropology and linguistics? I know for the UCs an anthro major needs to take courses in all 4 subfields of anthropology (linguistics, archaeology, biological/physical, cultural). I cannot determine if JHU's BA requirements are similar or not. I am ecstatic to be accepted to JHU, shocked but ecstatic, and am trying to choose between UCLA and JHU. I want to go to medical school, and feel like I would do well with a smaller school (JHU), but have mostly envisioned myself emphasizing the physical/biological side of anthropology. I love cultural anthropology as well, though, and could be happy with a socio-cultural approach only.

So, does anyone have experience with the anthropology department at Johns Hopkins University?

I am not familiar with anthropology specifically at Hopkins, but I have taken bio anthro actually from the bio department instead of anthro department. I think psychology and neuroscience also offers some biologically focused anthro courses. For linguistics, you will have to look at cognitive science departments. I also have taken archaeology classes in Near Eastern Studies department that has courses with considerable overlaps with physical and bio anthro. I know courses seem kind of scattered over different departments and UCLA probably has more focused course offerings, but you really can’t beat the quality of professors here (esp. in upper level seminars) who really care about students and also are world class researchers and experts in their field.
