Our school also has plain, regular calculus!

Le gasp! O.O Mine would never do that.

My completely boring ECs (well, in the minds of admissions, at least. I <3 them.) Practically no community service. No research. And I'm an aspiring math major without AIME, etc.

My scores, grades, rank are all there. But that other stuff is probably going to keep me out of the top ivys. Oh well.

lol. I was going to say, Virgil.

Chinese female seeking admission to UC Berkeley, who actually lives in the Bay Area.

Volunteers at the library - just like every other Chinese teenager in SF.

1 AP class during sophomore and junior year (and one of the easiest in my school)- no explanation, just "lazy." [I do make this up by taking 6 this year]

Majoring in Poli Sci... (and math but that's a different story)

LOW SATII scores for Ivy Leagues.

Iffy essays; okay writing skills.

let's see..
my SAT scores could be a lot better (1800)
my gpa sucks (3.26)
should've done more volunteering
haven't taken any APs
soph. grades suckkkkkked
and i have no awards or anything like that

yay!

SAT scores seem to be the thing killing us all.

On the bright side, I just found this quote from an admission officers from Amherst
"If you tie admission strictly to S.A.T. scores, you're going to end up with a very wealthy student body."

And they don't have wealthy student bodies.

I actually am pretty fond of my SATs. 1490/2190. Not amazing by CC standards, but amazing by normal standards haha.

I wish I had your scores. Mine didn't even break a two thousand.

ya my SAT is the only reason i feel confident in applying to top schools... and it's low by cc standards. of course...

My SAT scores make me think I won't make it, but my GPA, rank, clubs, etc make me think I have a solid application.

Thanks Nickel. My thing is I've always been good at standardized tests since elementary school. Like I didn't even study for the SAT lol. Unfortunately, it's a completely and totally useless skill past the SAT haha!

my weaknesses are 3 C's in algebra II and precal freshman and sophomore years and lots of bs and iffy ECs with no leadership positions. poo.

I've never been good at them. Well, not horrible, just average. 1850 seems pretty lame for Stanford.

1850 isn't quite Stanford level but its still 85th percentile, which is great!

1860 SAT score. but what ev.I hope I'm happy where ever end up.

Yeah, I know it's 85th percentile. And I know it's bad for Stanford. DX

But 1)SATs aren't everything and 2) an 1850 will get you into many fantastic schools

Not any of my top schools... >_> But I guess it could be worse. At least I got a 600 or better on every test.

That's still great. Lucky for me, I like my safety (GW) just as much as any school.
