My safety...is okay. The only good things are that it's a mile from my house and I get free tuition because my mom works there. Though going there would make me feel like I missed out because I won't be able to get a dorm and the school is conservative, like most schools in the Dallas area. =/ I'm a Democratic liberal here.

What school?

University of Dallas.

I'm sure with your scores/grades you could find another safety you might like more.

Well, the way I see it, if I can't get into a school I'm excited about, there's no point wasting a ton of cash on it, especially since my parents don't have that kind of money. I can just do two years there and transfer or finish my undergrad there and go to a grad school I actually like.

True true.

I just hope I'm not unhappy there.

That's why I'd look at some other schools. If you search you can find schools that will give you money that you might be happier at. Have you considered U of A or ASU? They'd give you money for sure.

Yeah, but I'd guarateed free tuition at UD. And I qualify for a lot of scholarships, so it's pretty much a full ride. And I don't like many schools in Texas, acually. I've looked around. I don't like Texas period.

Seriously, look at AZ schools. You'd get at least half-tuition just on merit, and I'd hope your family would be willing to pay a bit more for your happiness.

mediocre SATs (for very top tier schools), probably going to do horrible on SAT II's... only going to submit them to 1 school though...thank god for the ACT.

I love my safety school (Michigan state) almost more than all my other choices, with the exception of one. I know I'll be happy wherever I go...but it still doesn't prevent me from freaking out anyway

They're barely letting me apply out of state as it is. The thing is, if I can't get into the other schools I'm applying to, I'm going to UD period. It's not only my safety, but it's also my, "You're not going anywhere else" school.

I see... if you could get a full ride would your parents allow you to go out of state?

Well, they are letting me go out of state. But I'm only applying to seven schools and they said if I can't get into the first six, I have to go to my safety. See, they can tell if I'm excited or not and if I'm not excited about the school, they don't see the point in spending more money to send me there when they can send me close to home for almost no cost. And I already looked through guidebooks and such. I haven't found much that appeals to me and would be considered a safety.

Yeah, it's hard :( Well best of luck to you anyway! What are your six reaches?

Ok ACT score, a 26. It's not good enough for the ivies.

Overall, everything else is fine. I'm my school's valedictorian and I'm around
.15 from the next person. Also, I have a very rigorous schedule, in terms of the average valedictorian my school has each year(not to be conceited).

It's Stanford, Yale, Columbia, USC, NYU, and Boston University. I wouldn't mind going to USC. I really like that school, so I'd like to go there if I don't get into my three super high reaches.

I wish my school didn't have so many valedictorians!

Oh, I heard that looks bad. When too many people share a rank. I think it makes them think grade inflation or something.

An 1850 is def a good score for NYU and BU.
