Anticipated 8.4% admit rate

i apologize for the over-projection. in my initial calculation, i accidentally used last year's RD admit numbers only.

as others have pointed out, the overall admit rate will be closer to 11%, while the RD alone admit rate will be 8-9%

Those still aren't the words of joy I'm seeking, dcircle.

You could try lying...

It makes us feel good for a little while.

Good, I hope you do get rejected. If you knew anything about the schools you were applying to, you'd know Brown doesn't emphasize test scores.

NP glad I could help :D

I'd project that Brown would admit more than normal this year, especially since I would assume they would lose a lot of applicants to schoosl like Princeton and Harvard which give more money because of there higher endowments. Also, the probability is that more kids even if the do get in will go somewhere else due to fiscal reasons. Brown will admit more knowing that many won't come due to the economy.

On a side note, I don't know how Brown's invested, but I know that the rich ivies are heavily invested in illiquid assets and are light on bonds and stocks, so they're fine. Amherst I heard lost more than 25% of its endowment which I think is around 2 billiion or something. That's a hard loss

Don't Princeton and Harvard always give more money because of their higher endowments?

Harvard's endowment (don't know about Princeton) just lost $8 million, and Brown's (albeit much smaller) endowment did not.

This doesn't seem right, but I am interested as to how it will turn out.

hey, fromthesouth

i have a 31 act... that's not "only" and it's not "definite reject" their average act score from last year was b/w 29-34.

i was deferred ED-- not outright rejected.

thecomisar, Harvard's endowment didn't lose 8 million. It lost 8 BILLION, which was like 22% in four months. Big difference. ;)

Oops, typo. Yeah the $8 billion is right.

Unfortunately, kiddies, 25,000 applicants is about right. Above is the link to today's Brown Daily Herald which discusses current admissions. Good luck to you all!
