Anxious High School Sophomore

Hi everyone! I’m new to this whole site, but decided to join after lurking around for a few weeks.

My dream school is NYU, and I would like to be an English major at CAS. However, I’m beginning to get a little nervous about my chances. My guidance counselor said that I have great ones, and that there is room for improvement in the next 1.5 years, but I can’t help but wonder if I’m a right fit.

GPA: 3.75
Current SAT: CR- 630 M- 650 W- 690
VP of National English Honor Society, founding secretary last year as a freshman
Secretary of Tri-M (Music Honor Society)
Being inducted into NHS this month
Multiple clubs that I regularly participate in: Astronomy, French, etc.
I write for the school newspaper
Robotics Team
Finally, I sing in the school’s auditioned jazz group

Community service wise, I participate in lots of church groups and taught classes there all of last year. This summer, I plan to get in lots of community service hours by volunteering at the local school or something of the like.

Next year, I will be going for my IB Diploma. I currently take the highest level classes available. (AP Euro, Honors Mathematics (MYP) Honors Chemistry, and Honors English. My electives are piano, choir, and broadcasting. I also take US History Honors and French III Honors online.)

If I study extremely well for SAT, the subject tests, and the ACT and maybe boost my GPA up during IB, would you guys say I have a chance? Thank you very much for reading all of this!

Also… if anyone has any helpful tips, secrets or stories they would like to share, I’d probably love you forever.
