anxiously anticipating....

am applying early to MHC...only 10 days to go to know the outcome....

nyone can tell me exactly what kind a person this college is looking for?
I definitely like this place, but I sort a feel that my character doesn't match it well (maybe Im a too serious person) and they'll just reject me for it.
I also made some tiny word mistake in my essay and really feel bad about it.

Just heard ppl say they use current students to read applications, true?

i don't know how much help this response will be, because 1) i'm a hs senior and 2) i'm applying regular decision...i think. A friend of mine is applying ED, she is sweet, bubbly, enerjetic, bright, but most of all a caring soul. she never fails to make those around her happy too. i also got that overall impression from the holyoke student who gave me my tour.

as for your "word mistakes" in your essay- i wouldn't stress over it too much, keep in mind that each member of the admissions committee reads around 30 applications a day, each with at least 1 essay, they aren't going through your diction and syntax with a fine-toothed comb! Good luck with holyoke!

I applied ED too and I am very nervous. I heard somewhere that MHC have more than one person reads the applications so I wouldn't doubt if some students read them. I was at MHC for an interview late October and a senior interviewed me (who was very friendly and nice).
I love MHC so much.
Let's hope we get in. ::crossing fingers::

Only several days to go, hehe
Just go write essays for RDs and keep busy, then we won't feel THAT nervous

BTW,ppl seem to have forgotten here 'cuz only a few have come....

I didn't have an interview since there was no alum at my area
hope it doesn't hurt my chance =/

When are they sending the letters out? and have they already compiled the admission stats for ED?
i'm expecting a thin envelope soooooon.

One of the admission officer told me in the chatroom that the notifications will be sent on Dec. 19th (this coming Sunday!) so you will probably know sometime next week. I live fairly close (less than 20 or 30 miles) from MHC and I usually get my MHC mail in a day or two.
And mercurialgirl, why a thin envelope? Don't be pessimistic!

Santalove: All but one of my other RD schools' deadlines aren't till mid Jan or early Feb... so no worry about the essay. And I think I am recycling my MHC essay for all the other colleges. Recycling is always good...

Do you think the decision has already been made?

yes, probably.

They do work on Sundays???
I thought they only worked on weekdays

I read something on the dailyjolt forum a while back that they got their decisions on the 19th last year (which was a saturday, i think) My guess is that they're mailing the letters out on the 18th or the 20th. So, we should have the letter in our hands by the 22nd at the latest.

Yeah Yeah 20th PLSSSSSSS

Good luck to everyone!!

My D applied ED to Mount Holyoke and is now living by the mailbox. It is a wonderful school – warm, friendly, and academically rigorous. Good luck to all those who have applied ED, the mailing should go out in the next few days.

Do you thinkthe decisions HAVE ALREADY BEEN MADE???
Me too, I go to MHC website everyday, check new info, watch the Oxygen vedio and take online campus tour etc...I wish I could visit the campus but I live sooo far away....

how short is the Why MHC short essay meant to be? Please help!

there isn't really a rule on it I guess....
Just tell them what you want to tell, about y you love this college and certain departmen/sport there etc

I wrote two paragraphs for each short answers, and went a little over the word limit for the essay. I don't think they really care THAT much about the length as long as it is well written.
