Essays

What did you guys write about? My essay was bout me coming out of my shell and being more confident, if my essay really good, and my sats score are average and gpa is ok too what my chance of getting in? Now that I have read some of other peopls stats I'm doubting if I'll get in. What accounts for a great Essay anyway? I applied RD. If you go over the 500 word limit what happens? Do they still consider you Essay? I didn't go over but am just wondering. I really want to get accept in to MCH, I am in love with the whole atmosphere of the place.

Some words more than 500 doesn't matter. I've applied ED2 it's about 529, I hope that works anyway.

If you could post your stats it will be easier to get a clue.

Hey Hera00011, don't worry too much about the word count, as long as your essay is not that long that it bores adcoms off.

collegegirlee what was your wordcount anyway? For the commonapp essay!

really dont worry so much about the word count. As long as it is reasonabe, MHC has a really good rep for reading everything you send. seriously when you think about it 20 words is only like one sentence. I would say if you are approaching 600, stop and think about if you need all the information or if such detail slows the essay... if you do then continue but try to wrap up quickly, if you dont then cut.

I wrote two essays. For the supplement i had so much to write that i just couldn't write two paragraphs on why i think mount holyoke is perfect for me, but my common app essay consisted of well u know i really don't know how to classify it. I guess u could say it was kinda like me finding myself and finding my interests and how it was a hard road but I did and why i think a colege education is important to my continuing on my route to my goals.... Hope it works
