Any Acceptances Yet??

Yes, can log-in -- just nothing posted yet -- still "reviewing"!

nothing yet, but I can get into my page and see the annoying "in review" status. My friend got accepted but that was to Berks, I don't think anyone's heard from UP yet.

yeah my friend got accepted to altoona. UP must take longer obviously with all those applications

hey i got accepted by berks for DUS

I just got my acceptance letter for UP today. Only took like 2-3 weeks.

What the heck, my application was complete like the first week of September and I still haven't gotten a letter :( Congrats to those that did get one though!

the rep who came to my school from UP said if you're closer to the middle range, you'll take the longest to receive word. those who have like really high SAT's/ GPA's will hear first that they got in and those who are def not in will receive word too because they work their way to the middle. i think she's right too because a friend of mine had a 3.6 and a 1290/1600 on his SAT's (which is pretty good I think but he applied fall session) and he didnt hear until february! he applied in september. so i'm guessing if you're on the border or on the edge then you'll probably hear in december. hopefully not but who knows :(

I would think that for a school like Penn State, a 3.6 GPA and 1290/1600 would be a certain admit.

I almost think it's up to luck or something though because I have a 33 ACT and by that rule (middle takes the longest) I should have got one by now. Oh well, waiting keeps me occupied(:

hey i got my acceptance letter today from UP College of Engineering! sent my app in late September.

Congratulations !

I sent my scores in November 1st. I had a 1680 on my SAT with a 3.8 GPA. Also my dad and sister went there. Do you think I will get in?

Im thinking i will get in (more like hoping) but I'm pretty sure the honors college is a long shot. Is it good enough to just get into university park? I keep feeling like I have failed if I do not get into the honors college

no! psu is an amazing school and you should feel honored to be selected by one amazing school, i just am hoping i get accepted into summer session, my gpa is real high 3.72 and my sats are real low 1510/2400 but i have a crap load of EC's and volunteer, i filled up the whole activity sheet on the application. i just hope i get in cause i am instate and cant imagine going anywhere else

your so lucky to be instate! penn state is my dream school and I wont beable to go if I dont get some kind of scholarship. I'm a twin and sending us both to college and later Med school is obviously hard...

rengb6, your not the only out-of-stater that has Penn State at the top of their list, but is restricted by the price. I'll need a lot of assistance to go to Penn State, but I refuse to lose hope.

I'm from OOS and got very little aid. I know I just screwed myself over. Hopefully it's worth it.

I found Penn State to be very generous with merit and need base aid. The College of Ag specifically gives the most money out annually to it's students ($1.9 million/year) than any other college on campus. Combined with fed and state need $ programs and university wide merit $, a student could rake in a good amount of $$ throughout their 4 years. Do not be disapointed though if you do not recieve much $ your freshmen year, once you begin to make a name for yourself on campus with a good GPA and activity list, you will become eligible for more and more scholarship programs.

i am a twin as well, but being instate definately helps with the cost

Our experience was the opposite of cwryan1's. We were very disappointed at the lack of merit-based aid. Our S had good stats and graduated in the top ten of a very challenging college prep school, and still got almost no aid at all. By the time freshman year is done, we will have paid PSU around 25K out of pocket. It's worth it, though, because he is getting a great education.

We were told that he'd probably get more aid as he goes along, especially once he reaches his junior year (a lot of the college-specific aid is doled out to juniors and seniors, since that's when you are officially considered to be in your major).
