Hi Lyx, did you get accepted to RISD already? I thought they don't send out the letter until first week of April? Did you apply early decision?

NYU Steinhardt today!

has anyone heard from pratt yet????

My daughter has heard only from MICA. She applied to risd &/or brown, pratt, and cooper union. I don't think any of these schools let you know until end of March--I'd heard risd was even later. I can't imagine Cooper Union letting her know before then as the deadline for the home test was February. If anyone gets an informal letter or email, though, let us know! Otherwise, I think it's best to just get through the next week and a half. Good luck all.

Congrats getting into NYU Steinhardt! Did they send you that invitation for the luncheon in the Square?

i've been accepted to MICA, CCA, and PNCA.

Yup I got the invitation. I have NO idea what to do though because I think it's on the same date as the MICA accepted students' open house (April 5th). I don't know much about either school in terms of what I want to do (possibly animation? but I really have NO idea) so I want to definitely visit both schools. I'm just not sure which is more valuable to me, the Steinhardt event or MICA's. I know less about Steinhardt in terms of the studio art program, but at NYU you can plan to stay over for a night, correct? MICA doesn't have that option. I live in Central NJ so I can really visit NYU anytime, although MICA isn't that far either. Oh, decisions.

MICA, in my opinion. The NYU thing really tries hard and has a nice catered lunch, but is very very crowded and you don't learn much at all about the actual day to day life there, including academics; we're from south Jersey and also are familiar with New York. On the other hand, i don't know anything about the MICA one! Anybody?

i applied and was accepted to MICA last year also, but i didn't attend the accepted students day. however, i did visit the school twice from california. i did a campus tour both times, and i thought that was definitely enough for me to get a feel for the school and what student life is like, especially since students lead the tours.

p.s. anniehall, i didn't hear back from pratt until april 4th last year.

I just got my acceptance email from Pratt today, so I assume that means that they are beginning to send out acceptance letters. :)

I also got my email from Pratt today. I've gotten into MICA and Pratt now. Just waiting to hear from RISD.
I'd love to go to any of the three, but sadly it's coming down to which I can go to the cheapest for.

My D got into Pratt today too. Same as brianm02--pratt & mica. She too is waiting for risd and cooper union. Also same thing--best deal money-wise.

wait..so what if you didnt get an email from Pratt? Im nervous..............did they sent it to everyone?

My daughter also received an email yesterday with the Pratt acceptance. She also was accepted at MICA, SMFA, MassArt, Tyler and MECA. We also are awaithing financial aid/scholarship decisions from most of these schools.

why thank you susiem, i actually heard back yesterday-- i'm in!

but does anyone have any idea when risd sends their letters out? has anyone contacted them to ask?

also, in terms of nyu...

i didn't get an invitation. i'm assuming this means i was rejected. does anyone have any past experiences that would suggest otherwise?

Some of my friends haven't received anything either.
I wouldn't assume anything until you get your official letter on April 1st.

From the NYU website:

"Starting in late March and extending into April, the Office of Undergraduate Admissions hosts a variety of events on and away from the NYU campus for freshmen who will be offered admission. As invitations to these events arrive in mailboxes across the country over the next few weeks we want you to keep a few things in mind.

First, our admissions process continues through the end of March. While we are in the process of finalizing decisions, we must also begin mailing program invitations so that families can make necessary travel arrangements. However, at this time we are still actively reviewing applicants and making admissions decisions. As such, not receiving an invitation is in no way an indication of an admissions decision. All applicants will receive official admissions decisions notification on or around April 1st.

Further, each of our schools and colleges offer different events; some sponsor a single event, while others host several. Because of space limitations on campus, and our desire to do everything we can to ensure that all visitors have a quality experience and ample opportunity to have all of their last-minute questions answered completely, we purposely spread out attendance by staggering our events, and by staggering the mailing dates of our invitations. Quite simply, all of our soon-to-be-admitted students will be invited to an admissions event, but not everyone will receive the same invitation or receive them at the same time.

We certainly understand that this is an anxious time for students as they await our official decision. However, we discourage students from trying to read too much into what not receiving an invitation may or may not indicate. Please try to be patient"

Just to add to that, as I mentioned in another post, getting an invitation means you were accepted (and they want you more than others), but NOT getting an invitation, does NOT mean you were NOT accepted. Anyway, ultimately what matters is getting in, invitation or no invitation. You'll find out by their stated deadline. Good luck!
