any advice for a transfer?

If i want to go here I know i'll have to end up transferring--I got a 4.33 w last semester (second of junior year) and a 3.5 w the semester before that, but i did horrible sophmore year. Other than my grades, I'm ok but since gpa is a huge part...So should I go to a community college or would transferring from a better college be easier, such as one of the lower ranked UCs or even a cal state? And what would the school be looking for?

Your chances will be better coming from a university, most likely. I transferred in from a large public school out of state, and I don't think I would've been accepted had I gone to a CC. If your high school stats are weak, you will have to attend the school for two years before you transfer to have any chance.

That being said, I don't know if the cost of attending a lower UC or CSU and diminishing your chances at the higher UC's will be worth the risk because, even if you perform very well at said college - your chances of admission to Stanford are still going to be minute (< 10% acceptance rate).

Good luck to you, and although it's a bit early to be discussing a transfer, I wish you the best...
