Hi,
I was just wondering how others experience has been on transferring (or currently transferring universities). Is there anything, in particular, I should be aware of? Would it be best to apply in the spring or fall? Should I consider transferring as a sophomore or as a Junior? What if my current university does not offer classes that are recommended to be taken by the university I want to transfer to?
Stats :
current year; Freshmen
GPA: 3.87
Major; Communications
EC’S; part-time job, volunteer work
ACT: not sending it
have been looking into USC, NYU, BU, and others
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
You need to start with your reasons for transferring. You need to frame this as an academic reason: major not offered; major offered but not the depth/focus you want.
Once that is defined, it makes good sense to apply for transfer sooner rather than later so that you can get the full course sequence at your target institution.
If you aren’t accepted this year, you can try again next year.
Transfer with as many credits that will transfer as possible. It will save so much money. Also, apply for fall most universities have been fin. aid and scholarships in the fall over spring. Know where you are going too, some schools don’t take what others do, and be definite in your major. Good luck!
