Hi I just tried to find it again but I couldnt. It used to be under student profile of transfer, and it showed exactly how many people applied, from which community colleges, even from which countries. and had average accepted GPA by major. Anthroflo’s link is a good resource though. if i find what I looked at, Ill post it

***Actually Anthroflos first link is what I think i looked at, sorry I guess I confused UCLA with UC Berkeley. But either way I would say a 3.7 and above is a good target GPA for Anthropology, specially for the cultural branch. The Biological branch might require a slightly higher GPA

I found this : <a href=“UC Berkeley 2012-13 entering class | Berkeley News”>http://newscenter.berkeley.edu/2012/08/23/uc-berkeley-2012-13-entering-class/

Why would biological be higher? You just apply to anthropology in general -for Cal- not a specific emphasis.

http://www.ucop.edu/news/factsheets/2014/fall-2014-applications-table1.pdf

Looks like the applications increased a lot this year.

@coocoo , hm I don’t think that’s true. Berkeley does not distinguish between archeology and biological anthro, but def between these two and cultural. I say higher for biological because you are required to take much higher levels of math for bio and It is a science field. When you apply to Berkeley you just don’t choose a general anthropology, it has two different selections (B.S & B.A). As junior transfers, the course work is going to be looking really different if you’re going to be coding homo habilus DNA or doing an ethnography of prostitution in south central LA.

How did everyone do!?

@CooCooCaChoo25

Accepted into all 4 (LA, Berkeley, SD, Davis) schools I applied to! Words cannot describe how this last week has been for me. I did not expect to get into any of these schools, the top tier ones especially, because I was a one year transfer and half of the 72 units I have were from AP exams.

I’ll be going to UCLA (95% sure), because I have many friends from high school who go there and also the Anthropology department is the best at LA. I would’ve considered Berkeley a little more, had I not been accepted into Spring 2015 instead of Fall 2014, and since LA accepted me as a Fall 2014 admit, that pretty much solidified my choice.

How did you do?! I’m glad to see the Anthro majors are working so hard!

Thanks for bringing the thread back to life @CooCooCaChoo25!

I’m excited to report I got into all 5 universities I applied to (UC Davis, UCSB, UCSC, Cal, UCLA)!
Now, the hard part is actually making the decision, I am the queen of indecision :p

How is everyone else been doing?
Where do you guys want to go?

I also got accepted to UCLA, Berkeley, UCSD, and Davis. If I have to decide between schools I think it is between UCLA and UCSD. I live in the bay area and kind of want to try living elsewhere in a different environment.

Good job guys! I got into all three I applied to also; UCLA, UCB, UCSD. Out of excitement I already submitted my SIR to Berkeley- dream school.

Whats it like living in the bay area @dazedreamer?
