Any benefit to a music/science path?

As the semester comes to a close, and I need to consider what my options are for senior year, I’m considering really pushing my music classes and signing on a few chemistry classes to round it off, but I’m not exactly sure if I should. I’ve been playing trumpet in my local orchestra, along with a few other ensembles for a few years now, and my instructor is strongly suggesting that I consider music for post secondary which I think sounds quite nice, I’m just not sure how wise it is. I’ve been accepted into a program in my city which allows academically distinguished students to take a university course of choice free of charge, and I obviously immediately took the chance with symphonic band at my instructor’s suggestion. Should I consider pursuing a major in music performance, while minoring in a science? I’ve always considered taking the MCAT someday, so i suppose I will need the various science prerequisites associated with med school. Would such a combination be too difficult? Either way I’m looking at a number of years of hard work, and I think it’s good to diversify. But if there is no point in a science minor, why bother taking grade 11 and 12 chemistry in my grade 12 year?

My other option would be taking senior design technology classes (Architecture Related) instead of chem for better marks, and instead having Arch. as a backup, but of course I would narrow my options with this path.

Any comments, or suggestions?
