I was just wondering if it would catch the eyes of colleges at all. Please bear with my stupid question. I'm quite uninformed on SAT related issues.

no, not at all

No you can’t qualify for National Merit earlier than Junior year. My school makes me take PSAT Freshman and Sophomore year just for preparation for the real thing.

There’s no point. If you’re scoring really high, chances are you’ll score even higher later in your high school career anyway. It doesn’t hurt to keep practicing though (don’t waste CB tests).

Still… wouldn’t it be beneficial to have more ‘slots’ to retake the SATs? I’ll prob. take it as a sophmore like in the Spring, and retake during summer. I’d rather focus on AP’s and school grades/EC’s in general while in Jr. year rather than SAT/ACT’s

But I’m guessing getting a 2400/36 as a Sophmore isn’t any different than doing the same as a jr.?

None, wait until junior year.

If you do “good”, according to your own expectations, you won’t have to worry about it during junior year.

Other than that…nothing.
