I am obviously not from the US, I’m actually from Mexico and I’m applying for The Hill,Lawrenceville and Loomis. I wanted to know if there might be any chance at all for me to get in. I’m a natural bad tester, I get way too nervous and if I had a chance to take the February SSAT I would, but I can’t. Here in Mexico our average is measured from 1-10 and I currently have 9.9 and I participate in almost everything and do a lot of community service.
Your SSAT scores are quite concerning. I’m not an AO, so I cannot tell you your chances, but in my opinion, you have a tiny chance. In your interviews, talk about your community service and your selflessness.
You will definitely be considered an underrepresented minority and that will help you a lot! But, if you are not a US citizen, that will mean financial aid dollars will be extremely limited.
Yeah I know, the thing is that my original plans did not include me going to a boarding school, one day I was just invited to an TSAO event and then the next thing I know the Admission Deans of those schools (the ones I’m applying to) asked me if they could interview me so I’m not really sure if they were good enough or not because I had no idea of what I was doing, and also I took a TOEFL and my score was 634 out of 680 but I don’t know if that may be of any help at all
Yeah, my parents agreed that the only way that I may go to one of those schools is if I get financial aid otherwise there is no way they could pay for it, tuition its like almost all of their salary:/
oh no those ssat scores arent great but its best to put yourself out there as a true minority and how caring you are. go for it!
