My son is really trying to get into Ohio State Here are his stats-

GPA-3.2 He presently has a 3.5 last 3 qts
ACT- 27
Honors classes
1AP Class he started late
Pretty good EC’s and community service We didn’t realize how tough Ohio State has become to get Accepted
His application status says under evaluation since November 28?
He is planning on sending his mid term grades What else can he do?? thanks

I wouldn't call him a lock, but I think he has a serious chance. His ACT score is at the middle of last year's class, so even with an expected jump this year, it should be good.

His class rank hurts him, but if Ohio State is familiar with his high school, they'll take its competitiveness into account. Rejections have started to go out, so if he was a clear non-admit, you'd have heard by now. Provided you're right about his school's perceived competitiveness, I think he'll get in.

"91% of our admitted students ranked in the top quarter of their graduating classes

57% of our admitted students ranked in the top 10 percent of their graduating classes

ACT composite score range, middle 50 percent: 25-30 (national average is 21)

SAT score range (Critical Reading and Math only), middle 50 percent: 1150-1330 (national average is 1021) "

I don't know enough to do his odds but to my untrained eye he would seem to fit the school 50% profile. So to the question, "Any chance at all?"
I would say yes.
