Any chance at Cornell?

I don't have the best scores or GPA, but according to collegeboard, I'm not too far off.

I'm a junior from NJ

This year, I'm taking AP US History
Next year, I'm going to take AP Chem, AP Physics, and AP Calc BC

GPA-3.75
SAT- first time 650M 620V 600W (will be taking it again)
200 hours of community service

I'm Indian

this is pretty much it
any chance?
if not, anything I can do to improve my chances?
What should my SAT score be at?
I'm pretty confident that I will get around 2000 next time I take them
thanks

and my class rank is 60/750

no..... sorry... ur stats are to low.... big reach

yeah, I thought so

MORE EC's. Your extracurricular list is so thin that the ivies'd think you are just being lazy.

I can't see how you could stand a chance at cornell with such a tiny profile.

no offense, ur ap too cornell will be used as toilet paper, bro, u have a 1270, the average SAT for enrolled at Cornell CAS is around a 1420, for accepted, it is probably around a 1440-1450

Your GPA could be good enough, but your SATs are way too low.

I applied to CAS with a 2320 SAT, 4.0 GPA, lots of volunteer hours and EC's, and I was waitlisted.
So you'd have to write a pretty bangin' essay.

Your GPA/rank is okay for Cornell but you really need to pull up your SAT score. Aim for 2100+, with dedication it isn't terribly difficult.

Yeah, I mean right now you'd have no chance.

But you're a junior. Your GPA isn't bad at all, especially if you go to a challenging school and take rigorous courses. The key, like everyone said is SAT's. Prep the hell outta them. If you get over 2100 you'd at least have a chance.

Wow, kayrlis, why do you think this happened?
Any reason you can point out or were you just unlucky?

I think my essays weren't good enough. They were all good, but they weren't WOW EXCELLENT. Numbers can't do all the work for you, and that's a painful lesson I've had to learn this week.

They've wait-listed other qualified people, who I guess didn't convince them of their love for Cornell.

edit: I also went to their summer session, which makes me even more confused as to why they don't seem to believe me :(

how do my chances look for UIUC and Purdue?

the only reason I would want to go to Cornell instead of those schools is because its much closer to home (I'm from NJ)

I think I have a pretty good shot at Purdue(for engineering), no?

aight buddy, just write ur SAT again and do better, aim for a 2190 or so ... hope you took at least one or two SAT II. Also, DO SOMETHING OVER THE SUMMER BEFORE SENIOR YEAR!!! and get some extra currcicular activities ...

plus, ur indian (please, dont bombard me with discriminatory content in your posts .. please, i mean no harm to all you others out there)

u have a chance, relax, do all the above things, and ur chances will improve greatly, u may even get in ... colleges like Cornell and all make random-as* decisions .... so its a reach for people with perfect SAT's and fifty billion activites also
