Any word on the possibility of an OOS student (Virginia) being considered with lower GPA/Scores? Both parents are alum.

Note: Back in the day (early 80's) Mom "appealed" the rejection by the Storrs Campus and was succcessfully admitted. Does anyone do this anymore?

You have a chance, albeit a small one.

Sounds pretty borderline. Maybe a waitlist. Definitely not a target or safety. I don’t know how much legacy is factored in at UConn.

There has to be a really good basis for an appeal.

Is the 3.0 unweighted? Does the student take any honors or APs (that would be weighted and improve the GPA)? Was there a pattern of improvement. A bad freshman year is somewhat forgiveable. If some of these things are the case, it may increase the chances. Also good recs and essay can’t hurt.

Regarding the appeal to Storrs campus, I do know of a successful appeal that happened to one of my S’s friends. IMO the main reason he was accepted into a a satellite campus to begin with was his late application and shaky initial SAT scores. His grades were always good and he was in upper level (AP and honors) classes throughout. Once he appealed w/ better SAT’s, he was able to make a successful case for Storrs campus.
