Any Chance? (Posted in another discussion)

I posted this in another discussion and did not get any responses and since I am wanting to transfer to a UC this discussion seems more relevant. Here is what I posted:

Right after high school I was accepted and went to a CSU school. Well I did horrible, very horrible. 2 F's, 1 D, 1C, 1 W, and 1 Credit in a CR/NC class. There were many reasons why I did so horrible, but don't know if those really matter... Anyway I started going to a CCC at have 4.0, am trying really hard and am actually really enjoying school now. Is there any chance I could still get into a UC school when I want to transfer? Or no possible way? Thanks for your responses. By the way I should add, the bad semester at CSU was Fall 06. Started at CCC in Fall 08, would like to transfer in Fall 10. Thanks again!

I'm not sure if your CSU grades count in your UC gpa, given that you get accepted and attend a UC. Go to a counselor at your CC and ask whether or not you can make up those 2 F's and replace them with A's. Never say never. Do well in your classes and things will look up.

Your CSU grades COUNT towards your cumulative GPA when you apply to a UC. Go seek help from a counselor and create a plan that will help you finish your IGETC and all your pre-req classes. You're in a tough spot but its still possible to go transfer to a UC. I don't know how academic renewal works, but call the CSU you attended and ask if theres any way you can change or fix the F's and D's. Sign up for TAG programs with UCI / UCSD/ UCD and stick with their requirements, most of them just ask you to have a 3.2~ and solid pre-req gpa.

If the F's and D's don't get fixed, your overall GPA will suffer....really really badly

Yeah. I have a D in a soc1 class at valley college and didn't make it up. instead I did well in my other social/humanities courses. Oi. Whatever, the application is in review now.

Thanks for the responses. I did look into the academic renewal and the only way to get that to work is if I go back to school at the CSU I attended. And take at least 15 units, and be at least 5 years after the semester I want taken off my record. If I could get petition for readmission into the CSU and just retake those classes could I still transfer from my CC or would I be a student at the CSU and decrease the chances of transferring to UC as they give first priority to CC? I actually have taken the same classes that I failed at the CSU and got A's in them at my CC but don't think I can replace the grades with grades from a different school, right? Thanks again!
