I go to the best high school in my state (KY). This summer I'm hoping to do some volunteer reasearch at university of louisville. I looking to major in chemistry (pre med). One of my parents only has a GED while the other has a 2 year degree from a community college. I would likely need financial aid as well if thats a factor. My EC's are where I am really weak. 9th grade I was in FBLA and played lacrosse and then this past year (11th) I was excutive parlimentary officer and historian of young independants. I should end up being president next year. So my question is do I have a shot at Rochester ? I would most likely applying ED to Rochester and Louisville's guaranteed entrance into medical school program.

Thanks

Hrmmmmm, well I think your GPA and SATs are in that general bubble of normal Rochester-accepted applicants, I wouldnt worry about that. The only problem that I see is that Rochester looks at you in a very personal manner; take heed to this and make sure you do ECs that exemplify who you are as a student and portray your personality/goals/etc. And with these ECs make sure that you do a good job of also keeping up over the course of your HS career, showing dedication. I think if you can strengthen your ECs, and if you apply ED (that'll REALLY strengthen your application, knowing that you do in fact want to take advantage of the oppurtunites of Rochester) , you are in superb shape.
