My school's curriculum is harder than IB, I take math, phys, chem, bio, technical drawing, english, civics, phys ed., and computer, and have been doing so for 3 years(im a junior). 9th and 10th grade weren't great, due to bullying. This year, my gpa will most likely be about 3.87-ish, with a total cumulitive of 3.15(i know, its horrible), but my low grades aren't because I'm not smart, I know for sure i can get great recommendations from my teachers and counselor, I founded the Robotics Club in my school(President), Co-founded the Chess Club(V.P), President of the Leadership Club, in the MUN, Environmental club, my essay truly is heartfelt and shows who i am. If it helps, I'm Ethiopian, have been a voracious reader since I was 6, and have read almost all well-known classics(the likes of Tolstoy's "Anna Karenina", The Odyssey, The Iliad, The Brother's Karamazov...), play guitar, tennis(assistant coach at a private club). I would be forever grateful if you guys could offer any colleges that would be matches or safeties for me? I also plan on getting around 2080 on the SAT. thanks!

Actually, 95% of the colleges in the US would accept you.
The problem is, on CC people are mostly focusing on the other 5%.

You want college recommendations? Perhaps if you can state your budget, your home state and your intended major(s)… maybe preferred college size if you think it matters.

You can definitely get into a lot lot of colleges. They also like to see growth and progression so its good that your grades have improved tremendously. A lot of times colleges will have a section in the application where you can explain any circumstances that have effected your grades or life so DEFINITELY talk about the bullying there and help them to understand. You’re. Clearly a bright individual so you should have no trouble getting into college. Good Luck!

Most American colleges would accept you with flying colors. In fact, I have an even worse GPA than you do and I think I can get into a good uni. You certainly should explain the bullying and how deeply it affected you.

EDIT i plan on doing mechanical and Aeronautical engineering, and my college budget would probably be about $20,000 max.

Keep in mind that you can school for financial aid and scholarships, so don’t rule out schools that have an initial price tag of higher than $20,000. Depending on the school you go to, merit-based scholarships may or may not be an option, but there’s plenty of other types of scholarships, for everything from writing competitions to building robots. Check out third-party websites for scholarship opportunities. I mostly use *****. Like other posters have said, try to explain to schools that bullying caused the low grades. However, try to turn it into a positive. The bullying beat you down for a while, but then tell them about how you got back up and became a better person despite - perhaps because of? - the bullying. Schools will be more likely to dismiss the grades and look upon you a little better if they see that you’ve turned something so negative into a positive.

Are you a US citizen or permanent resident, or are you an international student?
What’s in-state for you?
Have you taken the PSAT?
Do you plan on taking SAT Subjects?

i would suggest state schools and uc merced
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1596661-chance-me-private-schools-ucs.html

i have a similar situation and a list of colleges i’m applying to you should check my list

I’m an international student, and I plan on taking the Math 2 and Physics Sub tests.

If you’re an international student, will you need financial aid?
This is THE key issue for international students.
Can you take a subject test in addition to Math2 and Physics (to distinguish yourself from the myriad international applicants taking these tests, it’d be best if it were a World History or Foreign Language or English test, not another science test).

Thank you guys so much. If any of you could tell me any specific colleges that would be safeties or matches for me? I will need financial aid, though.
