I was a finalist in the Norman Mailer Fiction Award, won three silver keys and two gold keys in the Scholastics Art and Writing and recently received my HM and Merit award in the YoungArts competition. I've also entered the Leonard Milberg Poetry Prize by Princeton University and the Young Writers Competition at Bennington College. Anyone else know of anymore? :]

I’m doing the Scholastics Inc., Art and Writing Awards. Deadline is January 4th (at least for my region), so get on that if you’re interested! :)

yasminwrites: I cannot help saying that you are a talented writer!
May I ask you a question: after you finishing a writing piece, did you get your teacher’s feedback? or let them help editing, etc?

thank you cherry! after i finish a piece that i’m sure i’m going to enter in a competition, i do ask my english teacher for feedback. if it’s a piece i’m writing more for myself, rather than for a contest, i won’t go out of my way to get my english teacher to edit it. :]

iwrightfoundation’s ipwfx international playwright challenge is an extremely prestigious competition, but hardly any high school students make it into the semi-finals. I participated in the competition for the past two years (2011 & 2012) but was eliminated in the first round both times. They had their first high school finalist this year and it was a really big deal at the awards ceremony according to my drama teacher. if you wanna go for it, here’s the link - www.iwrightfoundation.com . I don’t think they’ve opened up the 2013 competition cycle yet.
