Any CUE Alumni that can verify early move-in?

I know the websites say August 26th(which is a day before general move-in day), but my D is reading rumblings/rumors of members of CUE being allowed to at least move all their stuff into their official rooms prior to CUE starting up which is on the 19th of August. Is there anyone else reading or hearing this or if you have attended the program, was move-in granted that early(I am aware that the CUE students will be living elsewhere during the actual program)?

Don’t have the information with me, but my young relative is doing one of the COOP pre-orientations and we are driving to NY (from midwest) to move her in before COOP starts. Information we have is that there is definitely early move in for pre-orientation participants. For COOP participants I believe it is the day before COOP starts. Roughly same start date for COOP and CUE pre-orientation, correct? I guess difference between COOP and CUE is that COOP participants are away from campus, whereas CUE participants will stay on campus. I would assume that your daughter could move into her assigned freshman dorm room, but that the dorm will not allow official residence until official move in day, hence CUE participants stay elsewhere during CUE (even though they are probably already moved in).

At any rate, our understanding is that there is ability to move into freshman housing the day before pre-orientation starts, and this is well before 8/26. We are certainly operating on that assumption.

Thx Swing. Yeah, we’re working under the assumption that Columbia understands the travel involved and would not make families traveling great distances hang around a week to help with the actual move-in.

“Columbia Urban Experience (CUE) is a week-long service focused pre-orientation program, held August 19th-26th”
[Columbia Urban Experience | Student Affairs](http://www.studentaffairs.columbia.edu/sda/programs/CUE)

Pretty clear you move in the 19th.

2016 CUEer here, we have been given the 19th as our move in date in our acceptance email.

@neiro6 The following is the only reference to the Aug 19th arrival in the acceptance email: “In case you would like to start making your travel arrangements, check-in for CUE will take place on Sunday, August 19th, from 9AMto 3PM. Please email us as soon as you confirm your travel so that we can keep a record of your expected arrival times.”

It mentions nothing about full, pre-move-in to the actual 2012-13 dorm rooms.

@pwoods While, yes, the CUE website does mention that arrival for the program is the 19th I submit the following quotes from the FAQ:

" When does CUE actually happen?

CUE participants must arrive one week before the New Student Orientation Program, on Sunday, August 19th. CUE ends the following Sunday, August 26th.

Where do CUE participants sleep?

CUE participants receive upper-classmen housing for the week of CUE. They officially move into their permanent rooms on Sunday, August 26th."

Like I mentioned above, common sense tell me that the CUE students will be allowed to move their yearly stuff into their official dorm rooms on Aug 19th, but given the reputation of Columbia red-tape snafus, I’m just being overly cautious about what I assume at this point. Also like I mentioned above, We would rather not hang around that entire week to wait to help our daughter settle in. She’s a big girl and if she had to do it hefself she could as the “move-in” experience is more for us parents than the students.

Oh I’m sorry I misunderstood. One of the heads of the program confirmed early move in on Facebook as well. I can’t find the exact quote now but your D probably could.

no worries neiro6, Facebook was one of the places I believe my D was getting her information, I’d thought I’d come here to get my info  By the way, congratz and good luck to you.
