Any Current Juniors or To-be Seniors Trying To Transfer?

I’m in a college ranked around 60-65th by the US News, and this coming fall semester will mark as my 4th year there. Because I’m double majoring (ECON & ACCOUNTING), it happens that I must take one extra year to graduate, but I suddenly thought that if I have to take one extra year anyway, I might as well transfer to a better university and take two years extra (and just have one major). Brown says on its website that such an act is discouraged, but I want to know if anybody who are juniors or to-be seniors tried it and actually got a chance to transfer.

I’m thinking about Stern / Brown / Columbia / UCLA / Stanford, but my numbers don’t look so good. Can anyone tell me about the chances?

Credits earned: 124
Cumulative GPA: 3.56
Concentration GPA: 3.88
SAT I: 1330
High School Average (Cumulative): 85
2 W's on my transcript (I didn't even know what it meant until I became a sophomore).
My 1st year college GPA was around 2.5.
My 3rd year GPA was around 3.93.
I usually took three 4-credit classes each semester (yes, I'm a laggard)
Hoping to get the CPA license under my belt by the time I’m applying to transfer …

Know idea of whether you could be successful at this. I am pretty confident that your SAT and hs record will not be considered at this stage. I would not say that "your numbers don't look so good." 3.5 is often the minimum schools seek in transfers. So it depends on how your total application comes across. My guess (and it is only a guess) is that the schools with very limited # of transfer spots (eg, Stanford) would need a very compelling reason if they were to consider your at all.

Having only taken 12 credits per semester might be a negative on your app at the schools you target.

Are you planning to go into the corporate world, or other work, immediately after your BA? If so, I'm not sure there is really any value in a transfer just to climb the rankings.
