Ed Hardy is the new Von Dutch.

Great job on the stereotypes, especially #6. I encounter a lot of #6 at Moorpark. They have these strange connections… they just start taking classes at Moorpark and have all the previous tests somehow. Unfortunately some teachers recycle test questions and the damn #6’s set the curve. Go back to Pierce, lol. How do they manage at UCs(where most professors write new tests every quarter) if they can’t cheat like they do at CCCs.

To add to the stereotype, while other #s are drenched, I find that a lot of #6 don’t wear deodorant.

Its funny at El Camino all the Persian fit into 1,2 or 3. Mostly 1 and 3, and seldom few were 2. At Moorpark for the few Persians that were there, they all fit into #5.

GOOD LORD… Never never never never listen to counselor’s advice regarding IGETC certification. Go straight to the graduation office with questions.

actually…Never never never never listen to counselor’s advice regarding any matter.

completely useless.

Actually, Sheldon Roth is probably the best counselor at Pierce. If you DO go in for counseling, I’d recommend him. I’m transferring in the spring, and hadn’t taken my math assessment test yet. Hadn’t take a math class in almost 8-9 years, so if I had taken it, I would’ve had to take 3 math classes (both summer sessions and fall, even though summer session B was cancelled - so I would’ve been screwed). But, he gave me the advice to just sign up for statistics at UCLA Extension (statistics XL10 for anyone who wants to try it out). Yeah, it was a little pricey, but I’m going to ace this class, didn’t have to take a math assessment test, don’t have to wait till next fall to apply (since summer session B was cancelled at Pierce), and I went from most likely having to take 3 semesters of math (4 hrs/day, 4 days/week) down to 1 math class 1 day/week, 2-3 hrs, for 12 weeks. And it’s perfect math class for my major, poli sci, because its statistics as more of a research tool (that you just happen to need to learn a bit of math in). Also, Pierce will certify it as part of the IGETC! :)

This counselor at Pierce totally saved my ass. So, they’re not all bad.

[edit] Yes, he did tell me about Moorpark, but it was already too late for me at that point.

Does anyone know if there is a certain GPA that UCLA accept?? Is there an advantage of getting into UCLA if you’re in the TAP at pierce??? I’m applying this fall and I’m pretty nervous about it! Thanks!

Pierce doesnt have tap but the Honors program. If you complete the honors program and you have a 3.25 in a major that isnt impacted then you should be fine. Shoot for 3.5+ though to be safe

^ yes it does

honors = TAP program

@empire… i’ve also vouched for Roth on this board… stand up guy. he also pointed me in the XL10 direction… probably the easiest class i’ve ever taken. ever. and in addition to that, he wrote me this ridiculously good LoR for a scholarship (which i won), like 2 days before it was due. that guy is dope as ****.

*avoid ALL other guidance counselors at pierce.

I agree with pinker. I used to go in to the counseling office asking questions, yet they would always end up at assist.org like i had never seen it before just because they had no answers

Hopefully you guys are still active on the boards and can answer my question. I want to transfer to UCLA as an engineer but I dont have time to waste on semesters of remedial math due to the assessment. I am planning on taking XL10 at Extension in order to jump up in math, but my question is, will I be able to continue in math and go straight to precalc after?

OP: It is usually fair to assume that if you complete a course more advanced than those below it you also satisfy the ones below. But there’s a problem with the case you want to try. Statistics 10 at UCLA articulates as Statistics 1 at Pierce College. Statistics 1 has a prerequisite of Math 125 (Intermediate Algebra). Math 260 (Pre-Calculus), however, has a prerequisite of Math 240 (Trigonometry). So while Statistics 10 should clear Math 125 at Pierce, it wouldn’t seem that it would also clear Math 240.
