Any Deep Dark Secrets

Decided to beat the bullet and apply to boarding school ("worry about money later") but I'm not sure if any of the schools I'm looking at are any good:

Leysin American School in Switzerland
Branksome Hall
Rothesary Netherwood School
St. Timothy's School
TASIS Switzerland
George School

So far, Leysin, Rothesary, and St. Timothy's have made suggestions that they would be willing to work with me and my finances, but I'm still unsure.

Do any of you recognize these schools? Are they any good?

I know George School.
correct me if im wrong, but i heard its 50% minority.
is that true?
anyways, George School seems like a fun, open, community tight
kind of school.

I dont know any of the other schools that you mentioned.

I dont know much about those schools but are you planning to apply only to those or are you considering other possibilities as well?

I was thinking just those, because those were the only ones I could find with the IB. I'm pretty sure there's more, but I really need to start looking for funding instead.

Do you know of any schools that offer IB, and have good financial aid? Unfortunately, they have to be a boarding school.

You might have done this already, but you can go to www.schools.com and do an advanced search using IB for your search criteria. I checked, so I know you can do this.
It is likely that you can also go to www.petersons.com and do an advanced search using boarding and IB. A third option is to try a school search on the ssat website to see if they offer these advanced search options. It's a good idea to cross reference searches because some databases might not be up to date.
Good luck!

Rothesay Netherwood seems like a really great school and it has a great reputation in Canada. It's near St. John, which is a really nice city.

Leysin also looks like a fun school by their website. There's kids there from all around the world.

Branksome is also a great school, and it's in Toronto which is always awesome.

If you're looking at Branksome Hall, you should look at the Bishop Strachan school. It's really good.

Yeah, it would be a good idea to visit Bishop Strachan, since its really close to Branksome. I heard a few celebrity daughters go there.

The United World Colleges do the IB program -- and they are full scholarships based on merit. However -- they are only a 2 year program, so you apply when you are in 10th or 11th grade.

http://www.uwc.org/

There are more than 10 colleges you could attend all over the world. It might be a good choice.

Bishop Strachan does not have the IB. Also, like Branksome Hall, the percentage of boarding students is very small. The vast majority of students live in and around Toronto and go home every night...

I go to St. Timothy’s! :)

George School meets all your requirements  i haven’t heard of the others, but i’ll be a returning soph at GS this fall. feel free to PM me with questions!
