hey zack, about the linens for the beds, do i really need to get the ones from drexel’s affiliated supplier or can I get some from a major department store?

Hey again. What date does Drexel begin notifying students of admission? I have completed my application and have just one more letter of recommendation to send in. I was wondering when I should expect to hear back from them.
For example I know Pitt begins notification Oct. 1st, and Purdue begins notification December 11th.

Hey zach i want to do pre-med, do i have a good shot?

joe you don’t have to get a linen from the one drexel recommends. i wrote a post on this before… just get “full” size sheets and you’ll be fine.

Hey Zackdudde what’s an easy way I can view the books I need to get for my classes? I can go to the Barnes and Noble/DU site but it doesn’t give me the ISBN numbers of the books I need or very accurate titles. I’d like to see if I can get them cheaper than the online store and can’t find any place on Drexel one that lists them.

I am transferring from a university that uses the semester. I noticed on the webpages outlining degree requirements and course descriptions that most of the courses I took for 4 semester credits have 4 quarter credit equivalents.

Will this negatively impact my graduation time? I have around 5 semesters of classes under my belt and would like to graduate within 4 quarters. Or will they take the semester system into account when transferring credit?

martin, i really don’t know your situation so can’t tell you if you’ll graduate within 4 quarters or not. You should call up the school or advising office of the program your looking to transfer to and ask them. I will tell you though that in the past it usually is not an issue, and sometimes works to your advantage. For example, if you take two semesters of english your first year, it would transfer in something like 4.5 credits x 2 classes = 9 credits, whereas if you take three quarters of english as a drexel freshmen, it would be 3 credits x 3 classes = 9 credits. Really the same thing except how its split up differently.

How strict is Drexel on downloading music illegally? I download music all the time here at home, but I’ve heard that some schools have issued fines to students after catching them downloading on school servers.

Also, do any dining dollars that go unused carry on to the next term?

no dining dollars that go unused carry onto the next term.

When I was in the freshmen dorms, I knew a few students who got their internet access disabled because they were downloading music/movies. Drexel isn’t big brother and they won’t search for people downloading music/movies, however, the people that got caught were downloading like many gigabytes of stuff every day, and obviously if your using that much bandwidth it shoots red flags up in the air. In the end, they got there internet back, I think maybe they just had to call up IRT or go there and promise not to keep downloading stuff illegally. Most likely you can get away with it as long as you don’t download excessive amounts of stuff. you might want to switch to pandora when you are studying, a lot of people use that. Also, if you were planning to use your own internet connection (eg: a wireless card) or an off campus apt, this obviously doesn’t apply to you.

Alright, thanks for the info!

Hi, I’m plannning to major in design and merchandising. Is there anything you can tell me about Drexel’s program for it?

Also, I’m applying for the 4 year, 1 co-op program. But everyone seems to prefer the 5 year, 3 co-op program. If there are 3 co-ops, wouldnt that mean that I would essentially have no summer break?

thanks for your time!

How is Drexel’s theatre program? Do they have a musical theatre program? How is their perfroming arts centers?

First off, this is an amazing forum full of information and has helped me a lot.

I am an out of state student that applied to Drexel about a week ago. I applied because I was very interested in the co-op program and I think I will enjoy the city. My questions are: how is the sports management/marketing major at Drexel? do out of state students have an unfair disadvantage as far as acceptance? how soon should I expect a response? and how lenient are they to give out more aid to people who apply earlier? I think I will have no problem getting in, its just the money that will be a critical factor. Drexel seems to be the perfect school for my major. Thanks Zack for all the help

Is there a way to test out of some freshman classes based on SAT scores? I heard some colleges let you skip the first semester or so of a basic math or writing class if your SATs were high enough

Much worse than Temple’s.

Thanks so much for the great info you have provided here. I have recently applied to Drexel in the Culinary Arts program and I was wondering if you could tell me anything about it. How many students are in it, is it a good program? And if I want to double major in Culinary Arts and Business can I do that? (Right now the major includes a minor in business) If I do double major, will I still have to fulfill the science requirement? Thanks!

what does it mean when they say? “We have evaluated your file and are pleased to inform you that you are now on our waiting list for admission to Drexel University. An official letter will be sent to you by mail shortly.”

it means you’re on the waiting list…if the school has open spaces after evaluating other applicants, you will be notified if you will be admitted at a later time (i’m sure the letter you’re getting will tell you this)

Originally when I applied, I signed up for the 5 year co-op because I applied for the Bachelor’s and Master’s accelerated Psycholofy program. Well, I didnt get into the program, but I’m still listed for the 5 year co-op, but I’m not gonna do a 5 year co-op if Im just gonna be getting my bachelor’s.

Do you think it’ll be an issue if I wait until I decide to go there to change it?

Also, when do you think I’ll get my scholarship letter? I got my acceptance letter on October 22 or so.

What are you feelings on the finacial aid? And, how are the parties?

Any info would be great! =)

I recieved a letter in the mail from drexel saying i got accepted to Drexel University. However it did not have any information on wheather I got merirt scholarship or not. Its been two days since i got this mail. My friend who got accepted said that he got like $15000 scholarship per year. Does this mean I did not get any merit scholarship or should i just wait for some more days?
