Any families applying late for fall 2017?

Chatham Hall?

I asked a similar question and Storm King School was one suggestion, and someone else said to try the all girls schools as they tend to have FA available for late applications.

@CaliMex Chatham Hall is on the small side for DD with less than 200 kids. We have considered all girls school, but I think our experience at Foxcroft sort of turned us off. I’ve heard the same thing though about FA, @corrales90 so I might have to look into those schools more closely!

The vibe at Chatham Hall is quite different. You might love it.

I have close friends whose daughter is at Chatham Hall. They love it.

BTW, I didn’t realize that the OP’s child is a girl. McCallie, which I mentioned earlier, is a boys school, so never mind.

@GoatMama Always good to hear of all-boys schools as well, as I have two younger sons who may consider the BS route down the road. And hopefully we won’t be applying late then like we are now :((

We have heard nothing but great things about Chatham Hall. It sounds like a really special place and the girls we know there are quite different from those who are drawn to Foxcroft.

If you are willing to consider all-girls in the South, you might want to look at Saint Mary’s School in Raleigh. www.sms.edu. Bigger than Chatham Hall, smaller campus with historic buildings, more of a city feel because it is right on Hillsborough Street between the State Capitol and NC State.

I know girls who were admitted as boarders late, and still received very good financial aid packages.

Thank you @EarlyMTNester, hadn’t heard of Saint Mary’s. That seems to be what I hear over and over again—chances are higher at all-girls schools w/FA when applying late. Wonder why that’s the case?

It is probably related to demand on the student side. By mission, single gender schools are only open to roughly half of the eligible students, those of the specific gender. Then, factor in the fact that some members of that gender are completely unwilling to consider a school that does not have opposite gender students, and you start getting a smaller potential pool of all applicants. If a school makes offers in the opening round but does not hit on all of its offers, it may have more openings/flexibility to add a student or two.

On our way to George School this beautiful morning! So excited! @SevenDad @gardenstategal @buuzn03 >:D<

good luck @narcissediaz98 !

Beautiful day to visit. Enjoy!

@narcissediaz98 I can’t wait to hear about it…sorry I missed sending good luck! Hope it went better than expected!!

Thank you all! @AppleNotFar @gardenstategal @buuzn03
What a gorgeous day to tour the campus! Still taking it all in, had a very encouraging conversation with the AO and DD hit it off with the student guide. Everyone was so friendly, said hi as we walked past, very warm reception. Huge “pro” for us with GS is their IB program, it’s the sort of diploma that has my DD’s name written all over it. So we’ll see, glad we visited, confirmed a lot of my impressions, just letting DD soak it all in and come to her own decision on applying.

Awesome! Keep us posted!

@narcissediaz98 - I’m glad you had a great visit to George! Another school that offers an IB program is Cheshire Academy. I am guessing that they are still accepting applications, as I got an email right before M10 indicating that my son could still apply. Other than the IB program, I don’t know a lot about the school, but I think a handful of kids from my son’s class will be attending next year, and it looks like a lovely campus, right in town in Cheshire, CT.
