Does anyone have a list of Florida scholarships? Maybe This can be the official thread for Florida scholarships.
There are a lot of local ones, but most can only be used in the state or even at a few specific schools or in certain counties. Most of the high schools have them on their websites.
I went through the list our high school provided. One of my kids was going OOS and there was not one scholarship on the 10 or so pages that she was eligible for. Not one. My other kid stayed instate, and I think there were 4-5 that she could apply for. Many were for kids with parents in the military or required a foreign language, special skill (art, music) that my kids didn’t have. The list contained scholarships from the region and many required the student to live in the main county for the city, and we lived in the suburban county. Some were only for minorities or low income.
There were some that the guidance counselors knew about that weren’t widely advertised. At senior awards night, three guys won for a safety video they made about lasers and airplanes. It was truly awful, but I think they were the only ones who entered. It was a Bar association in the area who awarded the prize.
Ok thank you. Maybe I should search up different high schools in that area that could provide me with a scholarship. Thx though!
Many of the scholarships listed on our hs site were for the 3-4 country area. Some on the list were only for one county but went on the master list because someone might live in that other county. Many were for military.
Go into your guidance office too. There are sometimes posters about scholarships.
Once you pick the college, also look on the website. I found one on my daughter’s and it was only for college women attending one of about 4 or 5 schools in the Orlando area.
Note that normally these are not a lot of money, maybe up to $2000.
The guidance counselor is ok in helping. But a lot of the scholarships she has is more specific to African Americans or Puerto Rican’s or to UCF. I live in Orange County. So a lot of the scholarships are for Ucf which sucks.
