Any ghosts in the dorms?

<p>This is sort of a stupid question, but has anyone heard stories of ghosts/hauntings in Michigan dorms (or anywhere else on campus)? If so, which one(s)? Watching the Amityville trailer got me thinking about that.</p>

<p>Well, this year a girl died in both Markley and West Quad if you're inclined to beleive ghost-type stuff.</p>

<p>(and the bell tower has been home to over a dozen suicides over the past 25 years)</p>

<p>When I visited um earlier this year, I actually saw 3 people jump off the bell tower.</p>

<p>Northwestern and UChicago have a lot of suicides for some reason. Chicago IS the windy city...maybe people are just "blown off" the high buildings.</p>

<p>Michigan has nothing on NYU or MIT when it comes to suicides.</p>

<p>I thought no one had plunged off the bell tower since that member of the Power family leapt.</p>

<p>I didn't recall the Markley case. I remember the West Quad thing--the girl had health problems, IIRC.</p>

<p>when i went there i stayed in room 309 in the rumsey in the west quad and it was definatley haunted</p>

<p>Among universities, Michigan (and Cornell) are below the national average in suicide rates. Cornell gets added attention because of gorge jumpers, but the suicide rate is still pretty low. Harvard, Johns Hopkins and MIT have among the highest university suicide rates.</p>

<p>It must be all of that heavy work from classes… Ironic that you’re supposed to benefit from higher education, rather than die, but of course that’s not the only reason.</p>
