DS received clubs and lessons for Christmas, spring is in the air, and I was wondering if there is an active golf culture at Bama?

I can’t find any mention of golfing on the Rec Center website. I know it’s not a broke-student game, but I thought there might be a reduced cost relationship with one of the municipal courses nearby.

Yes, he’s definitely bringing his disc golf gear. That looks like a pretty healthy and vibrant club.

“active golf culture”…
The Lady UA golfers are the defending NCAA champs
They have their own private plane.

There is a course nearby that the UA golf teams use. I do not remember which one as my DD#2 inquired last fall while we were there with DD#1 for her tour of campus.
It is not within walking distance of campus though.

DD#2 is an avid golfer and keeps up with all of the UA ladies golf and cheerleaders.

There is a local golf course about ten minutes from campus. Students can get a reduced membership for unlimited golf for the semester. There also is a club golf. My son played often in the fall. Beautiful course

^^^I believe Ol’ Colony is the one you’re referring to.

WOW, who knew?! (except you, of course, TxNCM!) Roll Tide, Lady Golfers.

Yes, thanks. I know SEC schools have terrific golf teams, and I knew Alabama regularly competed for national and conference championships.

I was asking if it was common for regular ole students to bring clubs to school?

When I was in school, golf was mostly played by juniors and seniors, and frat members. Looking back, I wish I had started golf then, instead of 10 years later in a company “hacker” twilight league.

The club golf is fairly new but I do know it existed this year.

One of the golf clubs had a table set up inside the Ferguson Center on Honors Day, but I didn’t catch the name of the organization.
