Hi I’m a senior in NJ and just wondering what safety or target schools fit my stats. Keep in mind I took my 3rd SAT in December, so my SAT should go up.
STATS
3.1 GPA
1550 SAT
I already got into three schools William Paterson, Rutgers Newark, and Rutgers Camden. I also go to a very competitive high school which is ranked top 5 in NJ and also top 50 by Newsweek. Also suggest schools that in NJ, NY, PA, or UCONN.
Do you have financial constraints? First recommendation is apply to Rowan and Montclair.
If you want to stay in NJ there are much better options.
Can you give any information about your family’s financial situation?
Not really, parents are pretty well paid pretty much middle class income
Look at Susquehanna, Siena, Scranton, Rowan, Montclair, Manhattan College, St. Bonaventure, Quinnipiac, St. Joe’s, Ramapo, La Salle and Sacred Heart.
I live in NJ and I am a parent. You can do much better than the schools you mentioned.
Ya parents don’t have problem with money, but yes we are not the richest either. So ya I would like to not go overboard on applications. But my family is willing for me to apply and apply as long as it isn’t more than 13 schools.
Ya already applied to Scranton, I feel kinda like a reach as long as SATs go up. I looked into Manhattan College before
so I will try to look into it. I also was thinking to apply to Ramapo because its cheap and have a friend who goes there.
Figure out exactly what your parents can afford. As a senior, this should already have been done.
I’m a senior in New Jersey, with similar stats. Trust me, you can do much better than William Paterson. If your parents are “well paid”, you shouldn’t need to apply schools because “they’re cheap”.
-Allegheny College
-Canisius College
-Chatham University
-Drexel University
-Duquesne University
-Elizabethtown College
-Gannon University
-Hartwick College
-Juniata College
-King’s College - Pennsylvania
-Manhattan College
-Pace University
Ya I did apply to like 6 schools this week one of them Drexel as I am looking into getting into their CAS. I’m pretty much looking at schools that fit my grades cause pretty much the 6 schools I applied to are most likely reaches. I also have 3 more to apply as well.
What’s your major? I have slightly higher stats (3.3 GPA, 24 ACT/1600 SAT) and got deferred at Scranton, but I applied to nursing, a very tough major.
I agree with Newjerseygirl’s list, she nailed it. I looked at/applied to many of those schools, like Gannon(looked at) Duquesne (accepted and will most likely attend), Pace(looked at), drexel(ALMOST applied).
I would throw in a SUNY. SUNY Plattsburgh is good for your stats
Well I applied for the College Arts and Sciences but I want to take Physical therapy and I figure just apply to PT school there or somewhere else with all the prerequisites courses for PT school.
I also meant I applied College of Arts and Sciences at Scranton and Drexel I applied Health Professions.
Have you worked with your parents to run the net price calculator in each school’s website so you know your probable cost of attendance? You should do that with them for all the schools you are considering.
No not really but we went to the open houses and they talked about the cost and all that stuff. I’ve talked about this with my parents and they said they are willing to pay for my schools but are reluctant on some private schools that are kind of expensive. We aren’t low income but we aren’t rich either so yeah thats why I’m leaning toward that are within my range or target schools that are not that expensive in price.
Your parents may not be aware that the net price calculators can give you a pretty good picture of what you would be expected to pay. There is no point in applying to schools you can’t afford, and lots of colleges are out of reach for truly middle class families. Don’t ignore this tool that all colleges now provide to help refine your list. You can find them on the financial aid webpage of each college.
Ok I’ll look with it with my parents I mean they are willing to pay and but I know it would be smart to choose schools that we can afford.I appreciate your help and advice as I feel I should look at the financial situation about the college process. I’m sorry if I don’t feel knowledgable on the financial situation of the process I’m just stressed out the whole process still and thinking the costs is also a factor. Like I said they said they could afford paying for my tuition and they want me to go to the best college possible that fits me and where I could be comfortable.
SUNY schools charge OOS students $30k/year. It may not sound like much to you, but if you have siblings that kind of money adds up quickly. You need to ask your parents for a specific dollar amount so you know you’re targeting affordable schools.
Stockton University near Atlantic City has an accredited and established Physical Therapy program.
