Any good universities in or near boston?

Are there any good universities in or near boston besides BC or Boston University?

Also which one is a better fit for me (BC or BU) given that:
*I'm a prestige whore
*I want to study healthcare law or medicine
*I would like to have be in a medium to small sized school (8000-10000 or less)
*I would like to be in a school with good sports teams.

http://www.searchboston.com/dir/Education/Colleges_and_Universities/

BC is probably your best bet. Under 10K students, good sports, great school...Idk how they are with healthcare/law/med tho. I know Northeastern is great for Med., but their sports teams blow.

Tufts is very good pre-med but Div3 sports. Might look at Holy Cross - Catholic school like Boston College- top30 LAC with very good pre-med and pre-law. HC has stronger alumni network than both BC and BU. HC's alumni giving rate is 50% while BC's is only 25%. Holy Cross is a member of highly prestigious Patriot League with Colgate and Bucknell and plays DIV 1 against several Ivies.

BC would be your best bet, looking at your 4 criteria.

for what it's worth, in US News and World Report (take this with a huge truck full of salt), BC is a top 30 law school but BU outranks it in both law and med school. (again, take this with a huge truck full of salt).

the best way to decide between the two is to visit and see which one you like better. on paper BC is the better choice but you never know - on paper JHU was my best choice but I absolutely hated it, so I picked Swarthmore instead.

Harvard and MIT......

I dont know a single person who went to Holy Cross.

I'd never heard of Holy Cross until I went to college in New England. It has a very good academic reputation and their students go on to top grad schools.

They have good sports, and they're crazy about hockey

Holy Cross is an excellent school academically and is highly nurturing, but it can feel quite confining, according to those who go there. Everyone knows everyone, and it compels more than a few to seek apartments in the crappy wooden three-decker tenements of Worcester.

is this a joke?

Have you ever heard of Harvard? Its a pretty good university right near Boston that has one of the top college football programs of all time!

"has one of the top college football programs of all time!"

-Sure is does....

This question brings to mind some dialogue from Spinal Tap, a definitive documentary about the British metal band:

[quote]
Ian Faith: The Boston gig has been cancelled...
David St. Hubbins: What?
Ian Faith: Yeah. I wouldn't worry about it though, it's not a big college town.

Lol, Corbett.....

Highlander, have you ever been to a Harvard football game? It's like watching paint dry, without the buzz from inhaling the fumes.

Harvard football was rated in the top 25 programs of all time by Street and Smith's!

And yes this yaer I went to Harvard v. Holy Cross and Harvard v. Yale

This year I went to OSU vs. Texas.

(The only reason harvard is ranked in the top 25 all time is because they were one of the first teams. If you want to take 50+ years ago into consideration, then uhhhh okay. Harvard will never win a national championship (again? have they ever won one?). The only reason I'd go to a Harvard vs. Yale game would be to see tens of thousands of Harvard fans holding up signs saying "We Suck.")

Harvard has one of the best football stadiums in the country and the Harvard-Holy Cross football series is over 100 years old and the most played between IVY and non-IVY. Holy Cross is a great academic school-strong pre-med and pre-law with good alumni network.

Par72 thanks for the backup
