I know it's down to the wire, but I'm still debating over Lehigh and Boston College. I plan on studying Pre-med. I've heard that BC has a better premed program, but I like Lehigh a little more.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

What is it you like about Lehigh and what don't you like about the other? If one college is known for its better pre-med program, I would suggest that one purely on what you'll get out of it, and getting into med school.

Thanks for responding. I like the fact that Lehigh is closer to home. In addition, they offer engineering - (there's a thought that I might want to go the engineering route). It seems to me, however, that Lehigh is more known for engineering, and BC is known for pre-med type majors. In addition, Lehigh has given me more scholarship/aid.

Thanks again!

Yes, quite a few people come here because of aid. I got an amazing aid package, that's why I ended up here. Unfortunately, I don't know a lot about engineering or pre-med because I take none of those courses! But...I know Lehigh is well-known for its engineering, even though it's no longer top in the country for it. I also know someone who is in the pre-med program. She was going to transfer but now, because she gets great aid, she's going to do well here then go to a really good grad school for Med, which she'll be able to do cos she saved so much money. A lot of kids also come from NJ, PA and NY so chances are you'll definitely know someone.

Remember, undergrad schools are there to open your eyes and mind, it's the grad school that'll count for your career. So if you end up at Lehigh and switch to Law, that's ok! You can just go to a grad school known for it's law progrm and be no worse off in the long-run!

Hope that helps. Any more, let me know.

Thanks very much for responding. From what you know about the pre-med program, are there a lot of pre-med majors? Also, do you think it is possible to transfer from engineering to pre-med, if I decided to do so?

Thanks

Ooh, I'm afraid that's something I wouldn't know anything about. Pre-med is under the College of Arts and Science and as far as I know it's pretty easy to switch from that into the Engineering School. I also know a ton of people who went from the Engineering School to the College of Arts and Science. I guess as long as you do so before your Junior year you should be fine. I think if you called either the Admissions office OR the Engineering School, they could tell you about the core requirements (each school has different requirements) and how easy it is to switch.

No problem!

My son also had to choose between BC, Lehigh and JHU. He was/is a business major. When he went up to BC, he wasn't totally enamored (sp?) with the school in general. When he walked onto the Lehigh campus and discovered the IBE program.....well,,,,,,that was it.

So, he got into the IBE program and he is looking forward to Lehigh. Personally, I felt like BC was a alot like a catholic high school on steroids. Lehigh had such a wonderful campus feel.

You are going to live the next four or five years of your life at whereever you choose. Please keep that in mind.

Best of luck.

I just answered one of your IBE questions but from what I've heard Lehigh is good for that program. Congrats to your son!

Lehigh's amazing!! I'll be a junior in the fall, and I couldn't be happier. I also had to choose between BC and Cornell, and despite Cornell being Ivy, I LOVED the feel of the Lehigh campus. It's small, has a beautiful campus, and you can get the attention you need in your classes. The social scene doesn't hurt either!

Work hard, play hard ... Lehigh's motto steadfast and true.
