Any hope for Northeastern? Will chance back!

Hi guys,

I’m currently a junior in high school. Little background about my school: it runs on a trimester schedule, and the grades I am providing are the final averages which will show on my transcript, when it comes time to apply for college.

My school has no math honors courses either. It also does grades based on a number system, rather than letter grades.

I am considering to enter a Pre-Med program after high school, with a major in Biochemistry (aspirations to enter Medical School).

My schedule of classes with grades is as follows:

9th Grade:
Honors English Literature and Composition- 85 (B)
Spanish Level IV- 94 (A)
Geometry- 93 (A)
United States History I- 90 (A-)
Honors Biology- 93 (A)
Environmental Science- 93 (A)

10th Grade: No APs offered for sophomores
Honors American Literature and Composition- 95 (A)
Spanish Level 5- 89 (B+)
Algebra II- 96 (A)
United States History II- 93 (A)
Honors/Pre-AP Chemistry- 92 (A-)
Forensic Science- 95 (A)

11th Grade (With first trimester grades)
AP English Language and Composition- 88 (B+)
Honors Spanish Conversation and Composition- 94 (A)
Pre-Calculus and Trigonometry- 98 (A+)
Philosophy- 99 (A+)
AP Biology- 91 (A-)
Anatomy and Physiology- 96 (A)

12th Grade (Planning to take)
AP English Literature and Composition
Spanish Practicum
AP Calculus BC
AP United States History
College Physics
AP Environmental Science
possible a few community college courses over the summer including Anatomy/Physiology, and Psychology (school does not offer AP Psych)

Current Unweigted GPA: 3.74 / 4
Current Weighted GPA: 3.83 / 4

SAT: Have not taken it yet, but based on practice tests and PSAT, somewhere in the low 1800 range.

Awards:
-Honor roll every single term in high school (Requires at least a 3.6 GPA with nothing below an 85 average)
-Excellence in Environmental Science, 9th Grade
-Local Hospital Outstanding Voluntary Service Award

Extracurriculars:
-Lead Hymn instructor at Church for Kindergarten children: I teach them the unique Coptic language along with hymns and songs. My class is planning to go to a national competition in New York next September. I also plan the curriculum, have assessments, and teach it to the kids accordingly.

-Volunteer at local hospital (25 hours so far, this will increase)

-NHS member & tutor; I tutor mainly Math (Algebra & Calculus), Science (Chemistry, Biology) and English. I also organize who comes for tutoring and who should not be recommended for it (if needed)

-SADD club (Students Against Destructive Decisions)

-eBay top rated seller, selling for 4 years

I realize I am severely lacking in ECs. I am planning to make up for this by having an increased academic record. I am planning to take SAT 2s in Biology and Math 2 in the near future, as well as 4 APs next year along with additional community college courses over the summer.

Thank you!

I think that, assuming you get at least a 1800 on your SATs, you will have a very solid chance at Northeastern.

I would try to raise the SAT and not slack in school/ ecs

Try to join a club, but get an officer position in it. Bring up your GPA and SAT scores just a little bit more and you’ll be golden. Definitely thinking you have a solid chance if you improve on those!

Chance back please:

A low 1800 SAT would make Northeastern a high reach. The mid 50% SAT for enrolled freshmen is 2020-2190.
