D3 is very interested in attending USC. As a sophomore she has a weighted 4.3, no SAT or ACT yet, but much stronger in math/science than in English.

D2 got into a great school early decision which made her stand out not only as an applicant, but made the rest of the senior year a joy.

Some schools have changed their EA ED policies, is there any hope USC doing the same?

The dean of admission came to our D’s school back in September and spent a good five minutes or so of his talk criticizing the idea of “ED” and how unfair it is to students… My guess would be no, USC will not be going ED anytime soon.

However, my D sent in her application by the December 1 date for scholarship consideration and was notified of her admission and scholarship in late Feb/early March. Not really EA, but it’s similar.

Lassie3, students who apply for the scholarship deadline and are invited to be interviewed for the Presidential and Trustee scholarships have always received their acceptances end of Jan/early in February. A few Deans recipients get their admissions a couple of weeks after that (and do not have to interview).

To get a vague idea if your D is competitive with these early admits (there are tons of threads on how competitive these scholarships are, but you can get a basic idea in the acceptance stats thread - just look for the early dates!). It will help to wait until she has some test scores, though.

Your daughter should apply to USC through the Questbridge National College Match. If you are matched, it essentially works as EA (binding!). Although it is really hard to get matched, even getting selected as a Finalist gives her application another look from the admissions officers (or so I’ve heard!)

Don’t think so. Some USC majors have an early Dec 1 app deadline because processing time is extensive due to auditions/heavy supplement reviews. USC is also committed to their major merit scholarships, which require the earlier Dec 1 deadline so finalists can come interview on campus at the end of Feb. This year, all finalists and a few other merit scholars were notified the last week of January. These are two reasons it doesn’t seem feasible for USC to add EA/ED to the mix.
