Any idea if TAP can be joined in the sophomore year of CC?

Just found out about tap and was wondering if you can still join?

Do you mean right now? As in your last spring semester at a cc?

You’ll have to check with your community college, but probably yes.

I joined Spring semester of my sophomore year.

Cayton is right, CCs have different requirements so you need to talk to a person there

Edit: actually, if you are comfortable with it, can you tell us what CC? Someone here might know the process

@mikesauce @cayton @luckie1367 Yes, I’m currently in my second semester as a freshman right now. I’m currently attending Solano Community College and Sacramento City. Solano doesn’t have the TAP program but Sacramento City does. Since I’m already enrolled with some classes I wouldn’t be able to add any of their honors courses. So I would have to join fall 2015 sophomore year right?

I know to be part of TAG over half of your courses need to be taken at that CCC. I assume there is a similar policy for TAP.

At SMC (my CC), you have to complete 15 units of honors courses before you can be TAP certified.

Wow, your CC offers a cash prize?! Jeez, I should have gone to Sac City.

The website states you have to join Spring prior to transfer, so Fall of your sophomore year is to late.

Are honors courses a requirement for TAP?

I think honors is only part of the UCLA TAP, which is entirely different from Berkeley’s.

@briank82 I’m talking about UCLA TAP only, not UCB.

Ahhhhh, thanks you two! Had me concerned for a second. Happy Saturday!

Happy Saturday

Hope wherever you all are is not getting as much rain as I currently am!

which one did he mean tho ucla or ucb? because Im going to Solano as well and they definitely have TAP for berkeley

Didn’t know you went to Solano, @MikeSauce‌. I’ll be going there next year for Math 030/031 as my college (Napa Valley College) only offers Calc 1 and 2 and not the lower sequence.

ill be in math 31 next semester but maybe ill see you around

@mikesauce The tap program for Berkeley that’s at Solano. Is that an invite only program?

It technically is because it is not open to the public. If youre an under-represented minority then it wouldnt hurt to at least ask the berkeley rep and even if you dont qualify at least you can talk to her, check the school website for her next scheduled visit.

For me, I did my research and found out that I was qualified and I had talked to the rep before hand so even though I was not invited I was accepted immediately. But again its really underground and its intended as a resource to those who are underprivileged.

@mikesauce Oh okay! Sweet thanks. The next berkeley visit is Thursday actually!

@mikesauce The only thing that kinda puts me down is that because of my fall semester grades I probably wouldn’t qualify. It’s such a big hurdle for me but what’s done is done. Just gotta focus on the now.
