<p>montanaro - people who were accepted into the STRIDE program received letters this past Monday..it gives students a $5000 stipend a year to do research. You don't apply for it; around 40 (it might be more) applicants receive it each year.</p>

<p>Congratulations, yeme. Are you going to choose Smith? By the way, they have been offering STRIDE to int. students since last year. The only problem is that you have to wait for your US Social Security number before getting the stipend that comes attached to the research job. It may take a few months. The scholarship, on the other hand, is directly deducted from your tuition fees.</p>

<p>No, D is, and very happy there. Great academics, great prof and admin support. On the other hand, it"s a special atmosphere: either you love it or you hate it.</p>
<p>northampton (the town smith is in) is probably one of my favorite places in the country. its so hip and has great underground music stores and a cute independent film theater and little cute concert venue (heart swoons)</p>
<p>plus the dorms are pretty sweet (esp. king/laura scales)</p>

<p>I got STRIDE!!! I am a Zollman scholar!!!! The letter is dated the 14th ...so It looks like there may be a few more STRIDE applicants in the South and the West who just hven't received notification yet....
Gosh I'm so happy... now smith is number 2 on my list!!!!</p>
