I know it's kind of early but I want to get a rough idea. I just finished sophomore year at a very challenging high school in Maryland (ranked top 100). I wanted to know some of your thoughts on some good college matches. My gpa is 3.46 and the wgpa is 4.04. I was enrolled in 1 ap for sophomore year. Two for junior year and most likely 4 or five for senior year. I will have been on the football team for 3 years. I will also be on the schools' newspaper for 3 years. One year as the Business Manager and one hopefully as an editor. I'm also in the International Studies academy at my school, which is an honors program with a focus in history and social studies. I also have an internship over the summer at the office of our county executive. Lastly I will be on the debate team for 4 years. One year as treasurer and 2 years as president. Im also white and Jewish if that helps. I would like to major in political science or public policy. Thanks in advance.

University of Michigan, Georgetown, MSU's James Madison (safety), University of Maryland, and Tufts off the top of my head.

Also look at GWU, American and Wisconsin. Good luck!

^ I agree
GWU and American should be high matches/low reaches
Wisconsin should be more of a match

Johns Hopkins, Georgetown, Maryland College Park

Maryland would mean in-state tuition.
JHU had not been mentioned and it is very good for poly sci.

lgellar: i want to become a political strategist,

thanks everyone for their help

I recommend Georgetown, GWU, or UMD. Can't get much better than DC for your areas of interest, they're near your home, and they are pretty good schools. UMD would be the cheapest, followed by Georgetown and then GWU.

thanks guys

bump bump

anyone else please

You will need a very good test score for Wisconsin to be a match with a GPA under 3.5, although being out of state will probably help a little. G'town and GWU will also be difficult.

The good news is that as a sophomore you have a lot of time to raise your GPA and obtain a good test score. Your ECs are impressive. Good luck!

thank you for the help
