Any international applicants?

Hi,
UNC only accepts 50 intl students which scares me, but they say that the average sat is about 1300 and such, so it doesn't seem any more competitive than an instate, or am I wrong? Do you guys know any thing about the UNC intl admission process? Are there any of you here on this board, and what do you guys think about UNC?

Thanks :)

BTW my stats:
Sat: V600 M720
GPA:
9-2.06
10-2.57
11-3.14
12- around 90
I consider my self to have pretty good EC's and reasonable essays...but I guess we'll see if its going to be good enough on the 31rs.

im intl......from India

SAT V620 M790
SAT II MathIc-800, MathIIc-800, Writing-690
TOEFL 290

Limited EC's and very good essays and recommendations...

UNC: Good and relatively cheaper school....but entry to Business Administration is after two years :(

I'm international as well. From Taiwan, but live in the US. I didn't know UNC only accepts 50 students! That's crazy tough.

ACT: 31 composite
GPA: 3.9 unweighted; 4.9 weighted
Good amount of ECs, reasonable essays and recs.

for more detailed stats, here's a thread where i posted

I applied Early Action and got deferred

By the way jacknjill, where did you get the stats on intl admission?

for what kind of student do they consider you as
an international?
i came here 5 yrz ago...

Basically your an intl if you dont hold an american passport or arent a permanent resident....

and as for the 50 students:

What factors make a competitive candidate for admission as an international student?
Each year we receive more than 500 applications for admission from international students. These students compete for 50 enrollment spaces within our freshman class. Consequently, admission is highly competitive.

from: http://www.admissions.unc.edu/faq/international.htm#quantity

UNC is a public school so they have quotas for different students I think, so I guess the intl quota is 50 :( good luck guys, but only after I get in :P hehe

omgsh, i had no idea the acceptance rate for intls was like 1%. That's crazy! wow, i'm so not getting accepted. after getting deferred, i had to report my midyear grades.. which really sucked and didn't help at all. oh well, good luck to you and everyone else! let's hope for the best.

Actually it isn't 1% because not everyone applied werent in the same batch of applications..I mean that lets say 20,000 applied and they only accept 50 intl students, this doesnt mean that all 20,000 ppl are being considered for the intl quota of 50. I sent them an email asking how many intl students applied this/last year, Ill tell you guys when they respond.

wow...
everyone here is so smart
lol
im dumb just hoping for some miracle
800 M 540 V

3.4 unweighted

hoping like crazy

i didn't know internationals are applying for UNC, i though they only apply for Harvard and such... nice to know UNC is considered a respectiable option for inernationals..

Hi~ I'm also an international; I'm from Korea, by the way. I still haven't made up my mind which school to go yet..
One of the schools that I'm considering at the moment is UNC, and I was wondering if anybody could share thoughts about the school.
I'm thinking of studying pharmacy, by the way.
Although UNC has pretty good reputation, they have few internationals, compared to other schools, I heard.
Anyway.. I'll be glad to hear any of your thoughts~
