Any interview offers for Biomedical/Bioengineering?

UCSD and Seattle

I got caltech bioengineering interview this morning, it is going to be on February 20th.

Is anyone else concerned or even befuddled by the fact that many schools (e.g. Berkeley Bioeng) haven't even sent out interview invites yet?

I feel like this year is not matching with how things have gone historically, and it's making me die a little on the inside, haha.

I think Stanford, UCSD, UPenn, Caltech, in some cases Northwestern, BU, Utah, and UT Austin sent out invites, but Berkeley did not.

Meh, haven't heard back from Penn either.

Do you hear from U Penn or know someone got the invitation? The faculty replied my email on Jan 21st that they will send out the invitations in the next several weeks.

I heard from UPenn today, by email.
There are three dates, ranging from about Feb 20th, till March 20th, so I guess there still is time to get invitations!

There is a fair share of information on that website:
Grad School Admissions Results for 2006–2009 • thegradcafe.com

Someone was invited for an interview at UC Berkeley Bioengineering (thegradcafe). Did anyone else get the email? =(

I know... I saw it too... I check this thing every chance I get. And no, i did not receive an invite... :( let's hope they keep coming!

three people i know got invitations for berkeley bioengineering by email, yesterday.

Does anyone know if UCB has a wait-list? Also, if one is nominated for a fellowship, does he/she find out about his/her acceptance at a later date?

No idea about the wait-list. However, you will probably get your fellowship information after an interview followed by an acceptance letter. I'm sure they are still going to be sending invites.

I received a UCSD invite yesterday - an example that they may not all come at once.

So far I heard from:
UPenn Bioengineering
JHU Chem+Biomolecular Eng
Caltech Bioengineering
Stanford Bioengineering

Any news, anyone?

Has anybody heard from Columbia?

I saw two posts for Columbia today.on thegradcafe.com

Hi, for those who received e-mails from UCSD, when is their interview weekend?

Does anyone know what your chances are at getting accepted once you have an interview with Johns Hopkins for BME? And what types of questions do they ask?

My stats:
GPA: 3.98 (from a top 5 school in BME)
GRE: competitive, but not fantastic (they say on their website that they don't put too much emphasis on this anyways)
Research experience: 4 semesters, 4 conference abstracts, 1 oral presentation, no papers
LoR: 1 very strong (PI), 1 strong (prof), 1 very good (prof)

My_name: Which interview weekend are you going to for Hopkins? I'll be there the 13th, maybe I'll see you? Where else have you heard from?

(Copied from another thread)

Undergrad @ University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
Applied for the most part to Bioengineering PhD programs.

Accepted: Boston University, Wash U, U Penn
Interviews: Stanford, Hopkins, Caltech, Berkeley, UW, Columbia, Duke
Haven't heard from: MIT EECS, Harvard HST, Cornell

It's going to be a really busy next couple of weeks - I'm pretty much gone for interviews from 2/19 to 3/15. I just hope HST will get back to me soon, I'm seeing my chances there start to ebb away...

fenguin: do you mind sharing the financial aid package that you received from WUSTL? They could only guarantee a one year fellowship for me.

Thanks in advance!

I think I got the same package as you did. Mine was guaranteed from September 1, 2009 to August 31, 2010, with a note saying that "support for additional years is anticipated contingent upon satisfactory progress."
