Any Invitations Today?

gillbertarenas do you mean you didn't get accepted to NYU or didn't get accepted for a scholarship? b/c these invites are only for high priority applicants (w/e that means) and not everyone. A lot of people haven't even heard from NYU at all so it doesn't mean you were rejected if you haven't heard yet.

Although I doubt you got GSP's cause those kids heard weeks ago.

it's never enough :(

OH MY GOD!! So confusing!!!! Are the people who didn't get invitations yet in or out????

Sorry! Get a little carried away =) I don't expect anyone to really answer with full confidence when the admissions office isn't doing it

I don't think I was a "high-priority applicant" because the kids who got perfect SAT scores/GPA's, etc. were invited to some event whose date differed from the one on my invitation (sunday apr 6)

And freezenthaw, I didn't get any scholarships in the package. Enclosed was this financial aid booklet and official letters detailing different loans I was eligible for, but no mention of any merit-based scholarships... does that mean I don't get any? totally clueless

I doubt it.

Financial aid packages and acceptance letters are mailed seperately.

i'm also on april 6th so i guess the same for me as well. Baobab you going?

I think that everyone accepted this year will eventually be getting an invite to an admissions event. Some events were held earlier and those invites went out first. Some events are for special honors/scholarship programs, so some of those might have gone out first to people with high stats.

I spoke to the Steinhardt admissions rep yesterday, and she assured me that everyone will be receiving an invite and a packet, but that some decisions just haven't been finalized yet nor mailed out. My daughter applied for vocal performance (MT) and by all indications has a decent shot of being accepted (good academics, attended summer program with great evaluations). A friend of hers got a positive sounding e-mail after his audition and he has yet to receive anything either. (And his acaedmics are great!) No one from last summer's MT program got an invite yet except from one boy doing music ed/vocal performance. So I think there are programs that just haven't finalized their decisions. It is agonizing, but it will all be over soon.

What programs/ majors did people apply to? If you post that info, a clearer trend may emerge.

PhoenixWright, I'm really praying that's the truth! Because another university I applied to gave me their fat envelope months ago and enclosed was an "official financial aid package" but today they also mailed me another large envelope detailing tuition costs, etc.

The words "official financial aid package" sound really, really final to me. :(

April 5th is my event day (Gallatin)... really hoping that this is connected to a scholarship (or even an honors program of some sort would be nice, though I don't think that they have one for Gallatin).

April 5 is my event day, too. Except I'm going for Tisch.

Is it correlated somehow?

Phoenixwright--what part of tisch?

Well, I asked people in the NYU LJ community if they knew of people who had been accepted w/o having been invited to an event first, and quite a few said yes. Here's hoping.

Phoenixwright- do you mean with Gallatin or with a scholarship?? I'm really not sure in any case.

I can't help but resent College Confidential a little because were I not a member, I'd be blisfully ignorant, thinking that all decisions came on April 1st and not knowing that invitations had been out for a few weeks.

Yeah I know I wish I never joined this website because then i would think that I have an actual chance of getting into NYU, my dream school. Plus I would not be so mad at all these people who got into GSP and are mad and do not want to go to NYU because of it when I would do anything to get into that program.

"On and Off Campus Events for Accepted StudentsStarting in late March and extending into April, the Office of Undergraduate Admissions hosts a variety of events on and away from the NYU campus for freshmen who will be offered admission. As invitations to these events arrive in mailboxes across the country over the next few weeks we want you to keep a few things in mind.

First, our admissions process continues through the end of March. While we are in the process of finalizing decisions, we must also begin mailing program invitations so that families can make necessary travel arrangements. However, at this time we are still actively reviewing applicants and making admissions decisions. As such, not receiving an invitation is in no way an indication of an admissions decision. All applicants will receive official admissions decisions notification on or around April 1st.

Further, each of our schools and colleges offer different events; some sponsor a single event, while others host several. Because of space limitations on campus, and our desire to do everything we can to ensure that all visitors have a quality experience and ample opportunity to have all of their last-minute questions answered completely, we purposely spread out attendance by staggering our events, and by staggering the mailing dates of our invitations. Quite simply, all of our soon-to-be-admitted students will be invited to an admissions event, but not everyone will receive the same invitation or receive them at the same time.

We certainly understand that this is an anxious time for students as they await our official decision. However, we discourage students from trying to read too much into what not receiving an invitation may or may not indicate. Please try to be patient."

That's directly from their website (<a href="http://admissions.nyu.edu/programs/accepted.html%5B/url%5D">http://admissions.nyu.edu/programs/accepted.html</a>) . So don't freak, people. Hopefully everyone will get their packets this week (I hope I have mine before the Steinhardt event this Saturday), but NYU seems to make it pretty clear that not getting an invite doesn't necessarily mean you are screwed :)

I got my postcard for CAS and it's on the 6th at some sort of NYU center. Where and what is the "priority-applicant" thing everyone is talking about?

we are also awaiting a decision. So just hold tight and do not pay any attention to the people who say you didn't get accepted if you didn't get an invitation. Adm rep told me that the decisons will be mailed out as late as April 1.

ah, again a new story from an admissions officer...

"Most accept letters were mailed on Monday and today (Tuesday). Most of the rest are going out tomorrow. The final round of GSP selection letters are going out tomorrow, and GSP accepts will continue to go out for a week or two. HEOP and C-STEP letters also will go out for another couple of weeks."

does nyu have an online admissions system?
