My daughter was accepted to the physical therapy program and we are visiting next month. Just wondering if there are many New Englanders or Boston area students attending Scranton?

Just curious…what were your daughter’s grades and ec’s like? My daughter LOVED Scranton (visited twice) but worried that low frosh grades could cost her admit to physical therapy. Any helpful info greatly appreciated. Congrats to your daughter and wishing her the best.

My daughter has a 3.8/4.0 GPA and has taken three AP courses. What did your daughter love about Scranton? Also on her list is Ithaca…which she really liked.

We are in CT. My daughter has been accepted into the PT program. Not sure yet if she’ll choose to go there, but it is definitely in her top 3. We visited there twice and she really liked it. I think it may come down to her other acceptances/offers. We also loved Ithaca but it is a little further away than she wanted to go. Good Luck!

We visited first over the summer and some students had already come back from the summer anticipating helping the new frosh move in. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. My D wanted to go back in Nov. so we did along with her Dad and bro. All of us found the place welcoming. The science building was beautiful, the food delicious, and I didn’t feel the students were “rehearsed” like some other places we visited. She also liked Quinnipiac and Loyola MD. Ithaca and Sacred Heart on list to visit in the spring.
At this point her heart is with Scranton and she is so anxious to hear from people accepted into the guaranteed PT program. Congrats to those accepted. Best luck to you as you make your college decisions. My only advice would be to visit and find the place that feels like home:)

We just visited the other day and it was amazing! Accepted for nursing and met some other accepted students. The people were so nice both who went there and who were touring. we are not from MA but we did see people on the tour list that were. It was mixed equally well between many states.

We are visiting in two weeks and my daughter is staying overnight with a student as part of the Royal Nights program. As part of the program she will attend classes and spend time with other accepted students. She was also accepted at Quinnipiac…we are still waiting to hear from Sacred Heart, Ithaca and Northeastern.

Awesome Mrseac! We cant make the overnights which is a real bummer. Couldnt make the Acceptance Day in April either! That’s why we visited. Loved Scranton. My D was accepted to quinnipiac too! Waiting on Northeastern too.

I’m a current student, and the most common home states are PA, NJ, and NY. That said, there are a good number of New England students here, too. I’d say that New England is #4 in terms of students’ home regions. If your daughter goes here, she definitely won’t be the only one from the Boston area. Good luck with the decision process!

Our Daughter is seriously considering U of Scranton for OT, as well as Worcester State and Quinnipiac. She was deferred in to regular decision from Ithaca. The only drawback for Scranton is the 4.5 hour ride. Other than that, it is her top school, and attended Royal Nights last weekend. We are in south eastern MA.

We attended Royal Nights last weekend as well. She like the school but I am unsure about the surrounding area and the safety of it. She is a runner and likes to have an outside area on campus to run…and I couldn’t see where she would be able to do that. We have ruled Quinnipiac out as they did not give enough aid to make it happen. Still waiting on Ithaca and she was accepted to University of Mass - Amherst.

I see what you mean. The fitness center is nice, but the campus is not big enough to allow for outside running. The area of town near the hotels/mall seemed ok for groups to walk. The program itself and the culture of the kids overall is a big pull for her. We are still waiting on UMass Amherst.
