I'm applying to Medill, and when I went through a tour this past July, my guide said the courseload freshman yr is pretty intense, but most people love it. How tough is it?? If you are applying, or are in, can you give me your stats, to see how I compare? Thanks!

I'm a first-year in Medill. I just finished one of the freshman Medill courses, History and Issues of Journalism, and next quarter I am in the other freshman Medill course, Editing and Writing the News. To be honest with you, History and Issues was kind of a drag, but I hear that it is by far the worst class one will take in Medill. Medill is quite tough - the kids are smart and the profs expect a lot of you, but I honestly think I will learn to enjoy it. My stats last year were as follows:
SAT: 750V 710M
SAT II: Writing 790, Lit 640 (?), Math IIC 610(?)
GPA: 4.25 weighted
6 AP Tests
1 Year journalism in high school

glamourbaby...you only did one year of journalism in high school? as in a class? did you participate in any other journalism activities?

Um, I did journalism as a class senior year and worked on both the newspaper and yearbook that same year. I had my own column in the newspaper and basically served as assistant EIC.

ohh icic cool. hey (glamourbaby) do you mind taking a look at my "why Northwestern" essay? if you will, i can email it to you (PM the address to me). thanks
