any new 1st hand info on Carnegie Mellon VP?

Based upon the website and curriculum, my D has put CMU high on her list. But, we have little info on voice teachers there, and some old not very positive feedback from a few years back. Does anyone have any recent experience with the voice program at CMU they'd like to share? Thanks.

I heard a soprano this past year, new at MSM in the MM program, who had graduated from CMU in 2008. Excellent singer and fine talent. Her resume reported a BFA in vocal performance. Perhaps, and hopefully, that means it is a better distributed degree, more liberal arts courses. I can give you her name by PM if you want to try to make direct contact with her to find out who her teacher was.

My D looked into the program but, at the time, the voice department had lost several teachers and was really in a re-building stage. It seemed that the school’s focus on MT had completely overshadowed voice. This was a couple of years ago and I assume they have been able to bring in some new people. The BFA requires 8 semesters of dance and 6 semesters of acting, BTW.

Yes, the requirements for dance and acting are some of the reasons that my D is drawn to it. She has hated to all but give up dancing the last few years, and was really thrilled with her acting class last school year. She likes the Eurythmics training as well.
