Ah, that's quite excellent! Good to hear the campus is still in nice shape. After some more rejections and some financial aid packages that aren't working out for me, I hope Willamette is able to offer me a more full package. I'm very anxious to find out, as so far it seems to be emerging as a top choice for a variety of reasons.

historymom, I think you feel about Willamette the same way I do. It's just... comfortable. We have walked through a few times, especially when we were shopping for a school for D a few years ago. She was accepted with a very nice merit award, but chose to attend a larger university.

I think Willamette would be almost perfect for my high school S. We visited last summer and he said he could see himself there. Trying to find time to go back for another visit/overnight when classes are in session is really difficult.

H was in Salem recently, so S and I convinced him to visit Willamette and talk to a few students as he wandered around. He said the place feels very different with students there! We are looking forward to our next visit. Good luck to your D's in their decision!

Thank you Bengal mom. At this point D is just waiting on FA. She already received merit so that's a plus. She was just waitlisted at her #1 and I am hoping she will choose to attend WU if the financial piece is there.

I can picture her there very easily and after her overnight so can she.

Sent in the deposit!

Congratulations, oregon101! You have a lucky kiddo! Willamette seems like a wonderful place to spend 4 years.

Anyone receive their FA packages yet? My D was an early admit, got nice merit offer, but we need to see the whole package to think seriously about Willamette.

Our daughter's finaid package came yesterday. Pretty generous.

S's came last Friday--generous merit but nothing else

Yeah, my package was good merit but literally nothing else--which makes it less competitive than schools I preferred (ones that aren't forty minutes from my house). Oh well.

I think it's very weak that anyone on this forum is judging Liesel's comments. All she did was state her feelings. And none of us know ANYTHING about her, so telling her she'd be happier at another school is curious, at best.

That said, Liesel, please tell Willamette that you don't plan to attend, as MY daughter is wait-listed up there!! :-)

My S was not offered any merit aid.
This is puzzling given he was offered merit aid ($7 - $18K) from almost every other LAC he applied to.
Our EFC is too high for need-based but we still appreciate scholarship to defray the ridiculously high tuition in all of these schools. It is still a stretch for us and we'll be borrowing.
It doesn't take Willamette out of the picture, but he'd have to REALLY want to go there for us to pay full freight.

benel--sorry to read this. I was dissappointed S did not get the scholarship loan but we were happy he received good merit. It might be worth a call and ask them why no merit. I thought merit was mainly a formula of GPA and SAT/ACT.

Lol, that's it, I've sent an email to the school. I received an email from them about a spring meeting for admitted students - but haven't received anything in the mail or email that indicated that I was one!

Does this mean I'm in and should just wait for snail mail to do its job?

benel - Sorry about that; the tuitions sometimes seem like a bad joke to me... good luck!

simply lily--call them. They will be very nice to you. Just say you are dying to know if you are accepted because you received the email about the admitted students meeting. Good Luck but don't wait any longer.

Hmmm.... D's FA package finally arrived, merit aid and nothing else. That's disappointing.

Lyre--us too and so keep having this conversation in my head questioning if we misplayed somehow. S is very happy and we see this as a wonderful fit for him but know we would just feel so much better if there had been a tiny bit more--almost like a vote of confidence or something.

Someone from the school answered me almost immediatly, saying they sent me my package on March 20th by UPS and one of my neighbors signed off on it(?!). The lady was super-sweet and offered to send it again... you're right, this school really is precious. However, I'm dying to know who this neighbor is!

Do I understand that no one got any financial aid? Just merit?

S only got merit but our EFC is very high so we were not surprised just dissappointed. SO--sounds like you are accepted!!!!

oregon101 - I think I read that the max for merit aid was $15,000 so if your EFC is high, I guess that's the max.

As for us, I am appealing our decision.

Good luck Lyre. Did your D fill out the scholarship loan paper with statement? That was our dissappointment and I have to admitt I still am bothered that S did not get.
