Come and introduce yourself!

I guess since I started the thread I should introduce myself first! My name is Emilee and I am high school class of 2010. For a long time, I thought college wasn’t right for me but I have since changed my mind and I’m getting ready to apply ED to Midd! I have been to their language schools twice since I graduated HS and I fell completely in love with this wonderful school. They have such a great vision, so many interesting programs, and living on campus is the most wonderful thing I have ever experienced!

Right now I’m working on studying for my second shot at taking the SATs and hoping to get a better score this time. I know Midd doesn’t care about SAT scores as much as other schools do but it would still be nice to improve.

I hope to see some other people on this thread soon! :)

I’m Briana. I’m applying ED 1 to Middlebury. I visited the campus and absolutely fell in love with it. Middlebury is my dream school !!! I really hope that I get in. Exactly 2 months until decisions are out. I’m freaking out.

Nice to meet you! Did you submit your app already?

23 more days until we know! Did anyone else apply ED?

<this guy.

I submitted my app on October 23. I’m so excited. December 7th feels so far away. I can’t wait !!!

Do we find out the 7th or 8th? I know they mail decisions on the 7th but I think it isn’t posted online until the 8th so I’m not sure

Yep, they’re mailing the decisions on the 7th but we can find out online on the 8th at 8 AM EST.

So it looks like I will be getting up very early on the 8th since I’m in California… :)

I’m so nervous. I feel like there are a lot of Californians applying ED. I have a good essay, good letters of rec, good ecs, took 6 ap classes, and I submitted the art supplement, but I worry that my grades and test scores aren’t good enough. I had 5 B’s in freshman year, which signifcantly brought my unweighted gpa down.
Is anyone else freaking out?

Has anyone been contacted for an interview yet?

I had my interview last week!

twenty days left.

Molly - I’m definitely nervous too. Does it matter if a lot of Californians apply? Do they only accept a certain number of students from each state?

I got an e-mail about an interview on Saturday. We haven’t set up a time yet but it’s looking like Tuesday or Wednesday. I’m excited!

vineyard - How was the interview? Any advice? :)

It was pretty basic. Just a regular admissions interview, no super weird questions or anything like that. I’m pretty sure that it can only increase your chances of getting in so that’s good!

Yes! I applied ED, from the UK! It’s my mum’s birthday on the 7th, definitely not what I’ll be thinking about… :p

and don’t think i’ll be getting an interview :(

I applied ED from Hong Kong, hopefully I’ll receive an opportunity to interview!

Ninevoltheart- it doesnt really matter. It could decrease my chances because they want diversity. They dont want everyone to be from the same geographical region. It helps if you are from a state where they dont get very many applicants. I know that a lot of applicants are from the east coast. When an admission representative came to my school, she said that California is like the forth or fifth state they get the most applications from.
Im so stressed. I really hope I get in. Middlebury is my dream school.

I had my interview today! I think it went pretty well :)

I am still a bit stressed as well, but between my SAT scores that I got today and the interview, I finally feel a bit more confident and like I have a chance. At the very least, now I know that I’ve done everything I can to get in, so there’s no more use in worrying. Midd is my dream school too - I’m crossing my fingers for both of us!

I think I may just explode from anticipation in the next 11 days. (11 days? Right?)

I made this countdown so we can keep track :)

[Countdown to Dec 8, 2012 8:00 AM in Montpelier](<a href=“Countdown Timer – Time since Dec 8, 2012 8:00 am started in Montpelier”>Countdown Timer – Time since Dec 8, 2012 8:00 am started in Montpelier)

Only 9 days and a few hours left!

@Molly - Better to have five B’s freshman year than five B’s junior year!! A perfect GPA would be awesome, but if the GPA is trending up the idea is that your academic abilities are maturing (with you hopefully right along with it). And I wouldn’t necessarily worry about how many CA’s are applying ED or otherwise.

Not from California, one of my best friends’ son applied ED and Im definitely crossing my fingers for him. He attends a very rural school where they only even offer three AP’s (he’s taken or taking all of them). He has however filled a lot of his schedule with classes at the local CC and is really a standout in all ways. Honestly, I think one of his biggest strengths from an admission’s point of view are his test scores. There are no tutors or any kind of test prep where he lives and he did impressively well. One point off of perfect on his ACT’s and his math and verbal SAT’s were somewhere around 780, but the writing section took a hit (which i blame on his rural HS not really teaching him how to write well) and is really my only worry spot. Writing is crucial in college and I’ve seen that to be even more true at Midd.

Anyway… I do so hope I get a good news text a week from tomorrow!!! (and I am so glad all of my kids are done with this process - at least as far as undergrad goes!)
